Also bought this through steam and not from their website.
Did you test that already, or does it specifically tell you to go to their website and type the registration key?
EDIT:
Ok tested the game, for me it sends me to Square-Enix page after I press the "View my online profile" button, and then it asks me to sign in with my account. After signing in, it just checks my save file, which has to be synced to their website by having cloud saving enabled - from the launcher's settings - while saving your game. Then I have to refresh my online profile site where the game earlier sent me to, and under my saved games it shows a Character Booster button.
Not really sure why it doesn't do that for you all because as far as I know, it should register your game automatically when starting the game, otherwise shouldn't be able to play it at all. I mean it should ask the Square-Enix account before starting the game, and after that should be good to go. It won't show all the extra stuff before syncing the saves for the first time, though. Hopefully their support can shed some light on the matter and get it working for you, it'd be nice being able to use all the features that should be available afterall.

We would ask you to log in to your SQUARE ENIX Members account at eu.square-enix.com
Please then click on "My Profile" then "settings" and finally "linked Accounts".
Please then choose the option to Link your Steam account. If it is already linked, try unlinking the account, then completing the linking process again.
If you continue to have an issue, please ensure you have created a dedicated Members account at eu.square-enix.com rather than logging in with Facebook or Steam as this could restrict some features.
Okay, i tried what they said but still not working so waiting for a new answer form their Support Center, will see.
