Deck controls
Ok i started playing this, Button layout works fine. Until i had the bike ride. attacking"right" was X or B and but attacking "left" was L1. its a bit weird

and on the world map R1 is turning the camara, but L1 is doing nothing. So basiscally i only can turn one way. How top fix this? Change buttons in Steam or FF7's launcher?

Can't you change it in-game?

Steam Deck controls (and xbox controller when docked) were the most annoying thing when I started playing this on Deck. I manually updated the controller mapping via Steam rather than the in-game controls to get things set in a way that worked for me. Biggest take away from the experience: map the controller buttons to the games default keyboard controls rather than to the mapping them to controllers (i.e. joystick & gamepad mapped to the arrow keys rather than being set up as joysticks, etc.). Biggest benefit to this approach is that the "X" key (confirm) will move past the controls screen on boot whereas the default joystick button for "confirm" will not. I also set the right touchpad (on the Steam Deck. Right Stick on the xbox controller) as a mouse in order to navigate the launcher. I realize I haven't touched on the bike sequence. I don't remember exactly which buttons were assigned the left and right attacks, but they were both performed with the ABXY buttons and didn't require the triggers. If you want to try my control scheme, it's uploaded to the community layouts as "Wily's FFVII Keyboard Mapped." I believe the confirm and cancel buttons are reversed from the original PS1 scheme (A confirms, B cancels), but it's been a while since I played the original. That's just the layout that's most familiar to me.
