How do i make a ps3 controller work

Very simple I bought this game a long time ago and tonight I was in the mood for some ff7. Then I relised I dont have a game controller any more so I pull out my ps3 conroller but I cant get it to work. Windows 10 shows that I have it connected but none of the buttons seem to do anything in the calibration and when i tried sense motion it didnt detect the contreoller.
