Late Disc 1 Limit grinding spot
Might be an earlier enemy this works just as well with. For limits that require "use previous limit X times" you can go to the Nibel area, then try to encounter a Valron, use manipulate using a different character than the one you're trying to grind for, and spam it's strongest attack on that character. It takes a fair bit of health, so have Cure equipped and you're good.

Thanks, that helped me get my level 3 limits quite easily.

all stage 1 limits in each level require using the limit a mimum of 8 times, then the next one in that teir will open up. after that its simply a mater of kills for the character in question to open up the next level. that is why sometimes you will encounter your next limit level before u have finished the current one

1. for barret tifa and cloud, during the sector 5 reactor mission, when you end up in the tunnels. if you continue to run toward the screen, and away from the main objective direction. you will eventually come across a doorway guarded by shinra soldiers. this is an ok grind spot, since they never do stop coming, however you dont have the ability to go get more items during this. and as such eventually your available magic will dwindle somewhat quickly, also the nearest save point puts this area permanently out of reach so you have to conserve enough to be able to make it back through the tunnels toward the objective, and survive until you can retrieve your first tent on your way to the reactor.

later your story will bring you back to midgar in a very dramatic fashion and when you get into the tunnels follow the same strategy of running towards the screen and away from the objective. you will find an EXTREMELY powerful materia down here. its not powerful on its own however is part of the W-Item glitch. famous for ff7

2. the corel desert beneath the gold saucer your story will bring you to this area, the desert i understand is a great place to work on limits because of the sandworm that lives there. almost all of your encounters will be with him. he has 1500 hp and can pound out enough damage to charge your limit bars quickly. there is cactaurs living there as well, they are extremely rare however are tough to kill i usually need a summon. and they award 10k gil for each kill. they occur around 1/16 encounters.

^This for sure. The best place in the entire game, period, no matter early or disc 3. Just decrease HP as much as possible (example summon materia can lower HP, no HP Plus materias, remove tanky armors, etc. since limit break gains % max hp dmg taken), use a hyper, and then grind. If you do it with Aeris in party you can actually use her limit break Fury Brand (Limit 2 - 2) which trades her limit break to fill the other two allowing you to level two character's limit breaks much faster.

The reason why this is the best spot is it is the only location that frequently spawns 5 enemies (almost no other locations in the game do this much less consistently) and at worst will have 3 enemies (the typical amount the average battle will have in most locations, meaning this spots worst case scenario is statistically as good as the average location of most of the game).

All those are good places. I personally go until right after Gold Saucer and return back to the Midgar Zolom with fire ring, get beta and farm AP/exp/limits/gil on the enemies in Junon at the area you can hit the alarm that leads down to where the subs are later on. At first it takes a couple hits on them, but at a point its one shots decent ap farming, definately good gil farming.

Some other ways to get Beta a bit earlier if you ever play through again:
1. Lazy method but its good to know because it leads to one of the best buffs in the game which is Big Guard. After you get Cait Sith (he has the first occurrence of manipulate materia) go to the beach outside of Costa De Sol on world map and fight until you see the Squid creature. Manipulate it and have it cast Big Guard on the player(s) with E.Skill. Big Guard is a All + Wall (that is physical + magic dmg - 50% taken) + Haste for an absurdly low MP cost.
2. The fastest/earliest method is there is the special reward in the library of shinra building which is Elemental materia if you guess the password right first try (save at save point before attempting this password challenge as you get one chance per playthrough unless you reload the save to just before). With it equipped on a ARMOR slot (weapon = element put on attack, armor = defensive elemental impact) plus a fire elemental materia such as Fire you will take reduced/or heal (depending on strength) fire damage allowing you to survive Beta from the Zolom on the very first encounter. Toss on a tranquilizer effect for sadness too (can buy the item nearby at either ranch or kalm, maybe both even I forget) for an additional -30% damage at cost of slower to gain limit break (who cares as long as you live). If for some reason you are absolutely crazy under leveled might need a level or three (never had this issue but maybe its a thing at ultra low levels?).

Not a big deal either way but the more you know. :D

Idk how but yea, i forgot about the elemental materia from the tower, even though i get it every playthrough lol. But that's really the only way to get Beta first time through, since for Big Guard you have to cross and it falls under after leaving Gold Saucer. Thanks for tacking that other info on, because I totally forgot to include it.

Mythril mine is the absolute best place to grind for kills for limit leveling. As for limit breaks, Junon Path is the best place for use farming and general XP, AP, gil. Load up Aerith with cover materia so she gets punched, a lot. Careful to heal her often and having some HP up materia on her for safety is a solid plan. Also, inflict fury on her and have her set to limit level 2. After that, spam fury brand every time she gets her limit, and unload everyone else's limits on the enemy. While much slower than Mythril mine, you can also use this place to farm kills for limits due to how quickly you'll be able to spam limits on the enemies. Enemy skill materia can help a ton in killing here, but you also waste the solid AP gain having enemy skill equipped. All with most attack magic does well enough, Quake being a solid choice. Summons also do solid work here, Choco/Mog can stop everything you fight in this passage.
This method will launch you up into the 40's in no time as this area isn't meant to be fought in until much later in the game, right about the same time you'll get the gil for the house in Costa Del Sol.
