I haven't checked the catalog or standalone .iros in quite a while.
Earlier in the game if you simply want to level up some materia faster grab the double equipment from Costa de Sol shop first time through. There are some triple weapons between there and the end of disc 1 as well.
I know about the weapons in the game that do that. But, you only get it on materia in those weapons. I was talking about increasing the AP you gain as rewards from the battles themselves.
I had the game on PS1 years ago. Was just hoping there was a way to cut all the grinding down some. Especially if I want to stream the game.
Razar.
Get Beta E.Skill ability ASAP. The earliest possible is via the library in Shinra building if you get the password right on first try (save game before doing this!!) to get the Elemental Materia. Pair this on armor with Fire when you get to Zolom at marsh and you can survive, assuming you aren't just hyper under leveled (I'm not sure just how low level this works with) and you should survive it to learn Beta. Level a level or two or use a Tranquilizer for Sadness to reduce damage further and survive easier. Beta will 1-2 shot almost everything for basically most of the game and later on you get Magic Breath in a boss fight in disc 2 which you can use when enemies aren't resistant to one of the elements for even more extreme damage. These two will out damage nearly any summon/magic you can get for most of the game. By the time they start to fall off you should be able to use attack/slash-all/cut for enough damage to completely replace their need.
Big Guard = 50% physical + magical reduction plus grants haste. To all party members for a dirt cheap MP cost. Can get immediately after Cait Sith. Grab HP Plus in Cosmo Canyon (one per each main party member) and you basically cannot die unless you reaaaaally forgot to heal at some point for the rest of the game bar the final fight and the two super bosses.
If you want to level limit breaks super fast without as much of a grind do it in the forest just outside Condor tower as it has 3-5 enemies frequently and will be the fastest spot in the game for this. If you want Omnislash I advise doing it ASAP when you finish Barrett's story at Golden Saucer because no ship to knock you out of final round like if you do it much later, also if you have beta and level limit break in forest to limit 3 you will easily trounce it so efficiently that even though Omnislash requires more points to get it then later when it gets reduced in cost you wont really notice. If you feel confident you can do it after getting really built up later in the game if you know what you are doing and can cut the grind a bit for it, but not enough to honestly matter and you miss out on abusing Omnislash for most of the game.
W-Item + Hero drinks = OP stats making Ruby/Emerald/Sephiroth totally trivial if you want to do them at a lower level without as much of a grind and just breeze through. Also infinite mega-elixers for lazy healing.
If you want achievements or crazy late game setups just wait until you get to Magic Pots at North Crater. You can instantly uber max everything crazy fast, in a few dozen minutes or so.
Alternatively, I believe the Black Chocobo Editor might allow you to import mastered materia and stuff and maybe even modify AP growth. I'm not 100% sure as I've never used it but I know people have used it to recreate lost saves, or at least mostly, so good chance you can.
