I think there will be conflict with in game key configuration, if you saw this screen below picture after you skip those opening (I think B keyboard is default as START), best screenshot or jot it down so you can configure the buttons in-game according to your steam controller configuration.

Thanks for the help, although it took a long time to get it to work since for some reason Steam wouldn't let me change some of the keys, it eventually worked after i changed the default layout, copied it, and saved it as a new configuration, thanks again for the help, i didn't even know Steam had this tool since i just recently restarted using Steam after a long time of inactivity.
It could be, i've seen people with similar problems even when they had controllers from other consoles, try doing it and see if it works for you too, if it doesn't you can just delete the customized controller layout afterwards or deactivate it
You can use the customized controller in the same way with PS5, but just heads-up that FF7 configuration is a bit messy. As long as you can bypass the opening cutscene and entered the game, you can just do the configuration in-game similar to the steam controller configuration. For me, it's just safer to have steam controller configuration.
