1st Time Playing Stuck at New Game or Continue screen

It's my first time playing I'm supposed to select new game right? I'm talking about this screen: https://i.imgur.com/89VAksM.png

I've been clicking my up key for hours but for some reason it won't go to new game, it's stuck at continue. my keyboard is fine, I don't know why it's doing that. What now, am I supposed to abandon this game I just bought forever?

Already did that, it's still not working. I want to move the hand thing over to new game, but it's stuck at continue.

Have you tried useing a controller. Also trying useing the arrow keys that are located on your numbers on keyboard. Let me know if this fixed it or not

That's very strange. Restart your pc and steam if that dont fix it then contact steam support

That's the first thing I tried, but all I got was a buzzing sound, like an error sound. I've had to contact Square Enix to get to teh bottom of this. I'm currently waiting for a reply.

I just found the fix to this , I failed at modding the game but still loved FF7 and actually learned alot about were files are in a computer to were I can find any file in a pc thanks to learning how to mod so anyways , I really didnt want to lose my copy of the game but the Steam version is imo the best version to get to fix these issues , so I was also stuck at the continue or new game screen , and I new right away my files were corrupted , and I read somewhere that you need to reinstall and install but that wont do anything and verifying the files wont do anything either , I new for awhile that the best way to get rid of corrupted files was to system restore game wipe everything and reinstall , so I knew that is always the fix to any corrupted files thing but.... my computer wouldnt allow me to do it for some reason so I was ok , im calling square enix tommorow for a refund or they send me a copy of FF7 for pc but the best shot I had was to find the files and I MEAN FIND ALL THE FILES in my pc from 7th heaven fails , basically every file of ff7 and the launch had to go , everything I went thro my documents to find any of the ff7 files I made from reinstalling to trying to mod the game , so I can redownload fresh files and use the fresh files from steam , so I wiped everything I had in my recycle bin with every FF7 file I could find and reinstalled FF7 on steam ,I even went thro eveyrthing their couldnt any trace of a file of FF7 for the a new install of the version to work, but once it does the game library version has ur saves no matter how much you want them gone the library or steam client will always have ur saves filed but this way its better my friend :) so u can keep ur saves 100% this way its just the problem was you cant run FF7 and continue or new game because theirs alot of FF7 launchers out there in ur system they all have to go and you need a new version of FF7 from the steam library and launch and there u go it works and u have ur save from grinding with FF7 steam system
