FF7's Rejected Script.

So I don't know why people aren't talking about this that much but I find it to be a really interesting story.

So according to Sarora Saga. The script for the 1998 RPG Xenogears started out as the script for FF7 but was Rejected for being "Too Dark and Complicated" for Final Fantasy standards. But it impressed the higher-ups at SquareSoft so much that they let it be its own game. Hell Xenogears is referenced in FF7 when cloud is recovering in Midlee he says A billion mirror fragments... small... light... taken... angel's... singing voices...zeno...gias

I don't remember much about it but recall reading something along these lines but it really isn't worth discussing. In the end it is simply a different unrelated game (unlike FFX which is connected to FFVII). What is more interesting is the fact they finally confirmed a few years ago Xenogears' weird second half was caused by them running out of development time and being forced to wrap things up ASAP.

Parasite Eve is also recycled material from FF7. I assume Square had a bunch of projects and have chosen the one with the most promising tech to be the next final fantasy. That would fit if you take into account that the planning for the ff7 project has started 1994 but the development was done in one year.

Yeah. The setting of New York in 1999 was an other setting for FF7
