Your Favourite Materia Combos
so whats your favourite combinations of materia? Materas as well
Heres mine
Comet+ steal as well = very useful when you dont mug
Kotr + Mp absorb = free cast xD
Morph on yuffie
2x 4x attack - really like it but so loong to level up
final attack + phoenix = auto ress when enough mp
Healing + all or restoration + all is very nice too
Mimic = very useful when you want to save mp or so

bahamut zero + magic counter

honestly anything + magic counter tbh, bahamut zero and ultima are my favorite

Outfitting a character with Hp Plus, Counterattack, Added Effect + Destruct, Elemental + Choco/Mog, and Long Range. Possibly Counter + Double Cut.

elemental + choco mog should give wind weapon / armor

first of all I don't think choco/mog gives off any elemental bonus despite it saying it's a wind matera (the summon itself doesn't even do wind damage)

i mean

i can't even say anything tbh bc i run elemental+fire on cloud's weapon almost always even if it's extremely unoptimal so idk what im talking about

It provides Wind element yes. Wind element is advantageous because it is so easy to figure out who is weak to it. Also there is no Wind elemental spell so it is pretty much your only manner of exploiting it until Typhoon is aquired. I don't find many enemies resisting it either. I do change it around to Fire when I'm in the long icy segment of the game.

seems like there are many other options that are much more helpful and optimal

like added effect instead of elemental.

but then again i can't say ♥♥♥♥ about being optimal because i run garbage like magic counter + exit and i still use the sense materia even after the point where most enemies can't even be sensed

Well sense can be useful for getting that chocobuckle enemy skill or find out which enemy you can steal mp from with magic hammer and so on - magic hammer is like poor mans ether -cost 3 mp and drains 100 mp each use

4x Attack + Counter

Every counter attack ends up being a 4x attack

you can steal mp from almost every enemy in the game, even sephiroth and the super bosses (in fact I've completely removed all of ruby weapon's mp because of magic hammer and it couldn't do any magic attacks)
And as for chocobuckle, chocobos that are able to give off chocobuckle will be in specific battles (like if you're fighting chocobos around the chocobo farm and you encounter one with 2 of those elephant enemy things, I'm pretty sure those always have a level that's a multiple of 4).

My favorite Combo isn't even using Materia and can be used before you even save Tifa from Don Cornelo. Cover + Tranquilizer (For Sad Condition). Never really see anyone talk about status conditions. Magic Materia + Hyper (For Fury Condition) is also great since you negate the only downside and get double limit breaks.

I get cover + sadness cuz i run that on vincent on my main team

I don't understand the other one though. Whhhat do you mean

sadness = less damage taken + less limit bar raise
fury = more damage taken and more limit bar increase from attacks on players
