Facts about FF7 names.
Hello, I would like to talk about facts for the game and share them.
Anyone have any facts they would like to share?

Here are some at the moment.
Aerith.
Aerith is a representation meaning Earth or flowers. - So basically deals with Gaia.
She is an ancient, the last of her kind.

Gaia.
The Gaia hypothesis, also known as Gaia theory or Gaia principle, proposes that all organisms and their inorganic surroundings on Earth are closely integrated to form a single and self-regulating complex system, maintaining the conditions for life on the planet.

Gaia is known as the spirit of the Earth, seen in FF7 many times as the life stream that comes from it, and at different parts of the game such as when the player goes through an area and Cloud saves Tifa from falling into the Gaia. Also from the movie, Final Fantasy: Spirits Within.

Jenova.
Jenova as we known from Final Fantasy 7, was an alien. That's right, an "alien" (extra terrestrial) being from deep space in FF7. Ever think of an alien in FF7?

Jenova is an off shoot of "Jehovah" and "nova," the Hebrew name of God and the Latin word for "new," thus meaning "New God."

Basically, the bad guys see Jenova as a new god for the Earth when the alien crashed.
And so a legend was formed.
After that, a lot of chaos happens where the monsters begin on the planet, mostly a combination of original creatures from the planet, and from experiment results of Jenova, that can be very dangerous.

"Jenova's Advent. Jenova was an extraterrestrial being that crash landed on the planet leaving a huge scar on the earth that resulted in the Northern Crater. The Ancients, a group of prehistoric people (also known as the Cetra), called Jenova "The Calamity from the Sky"."
Note - Aerith is the last of her ancient race but different than Jenova.

Tifa.
Its source is Theophania, a Greek name meaning "Revelation of God."

Revelation means "a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way."
And also it means "the divine or supernatural disclosure to humans of something relating to human existence or the world."

Also to hint her Final Heaven - Limit Breaker in the game FF7.

So basically after Jenova came to Earth, Tifa was the inspiration for man kind "based on the meaning of her name", and to be Cloud's mate but doesn't tell him that she likes him. Tifa was to be Cloud's guardian angel, ironic how Aerith plays that part though but Tifa does it in person and as his mate or rather "future mate". Though as we all see the situation.. Tifa and Cloud are in a relation, but just not ever physically together, though sometimes seen like in FF7: Advent Children for different scenes, such as the bike or in Aerith's flower bed, or when Cloud is on his bed. Tifa likes Cloud that way though, off doing his own thing and being himself.
Also Tifa is Cloud's inspiration again based on the meaning of her name, throughout FF7 to keep him going, and to help him at some point when he can't figure out who he is and feels lost, has to pull himself together.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Tifa and Cloud together. Not always the best idea of her using gloves and punches as the best weapons for her, and the fact that I wouldn't want Cloud to get beat up by her ever at some point, but she is amazing though otherwise.

Sephiroth's Final Form attack "Pale Horse".
When you fight Sephiroth at the end with your party.

"Pale Horse (FF7, Sephiroth's attack): This probably refers to 'Death on a Pale Horse', a 1905 painting by Ryder. It is more likely a reference to the Revelation of St. John, the last book in the Christian Bible. ... Its rider was named Death, and Hades accompanied him."

I've known about that for 20 years though, a friend let me know as we were playing it about the Pale Horse attack that Sephiroth does.

If you guys want to share any facts, you are welcome to as long as they aren't negative, or bad for the game.
I really like FF7 and didn't know about some of these facts when I first played the game in the 90s, or why those names were chosen. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the game! :)
Can't wait for FF7 remake! :)
