Arena at Gold Saucer: How to deal with Goannai?

Its the first move that the Ghost Ship uses no matter what, and even with Haste it uses it before I can input a command. I JUST want OmniSlash but this stupid bone boat is making it impossible.

How do you deal with Goannai? Is there a spell I can cast before the Ghost Ship spawns that can prevent me from being ejected from the arena, or do I just have to keep trying and get lucky?

Sadly, it is all luck. There is no spell to stop Ejection. it is what it is. You can hope your ATB is full when that battle starts and toss a phoenix down or cast life 2 to kill it quickly. that is if your materia hasnt broken. but nothing stops Goannai.

He isnt popping up every battle is he? that would suck.
