The more accurate translation of the original statement was that devs were asked to "tighten up" her chest so they weren't flying around all over the place with modern physics while she's being a total badass. They gave her a fitted sports bra.

Yeah... I'm amazed at how people don't understand...
1.) She has the same size bust, just it is in a tight sports bra to keep them in control.
2.) Women with particularly large breast can not physically engage in the level of martial arts Tifa does. It is physically impossible as it would disrupt balance and cause excessive strain on the body both the back and breast as well as even the abs (which normally will not be overworked but in this case actually would be which is a very serious problem).
3.) This topic is dumb. I don't think this point could be said enough.

We live in a time period where big breasts are considered morally wrong/politically incorrect. That size would've been acceptable when FF7 came out but.. people seem more idiotic and willing to make a big deal over anything these days.

Let's say a book about fart jokes is banned, do fart jokes matter? Perhaps not, but you are misidentifying the issue, the fact that a book is banned is what matters, the triviality of the subject doesn't trivialize the censorship, in fact, it makes it more damnable because it shows that people are interfering even into the trivial now.

Tifa is who she is, and we should be free to want that Tifa, for good reasons and for bad. There is no argument to be made against this. If you prefer this Tifa as a design, that's great, perhaps one day someone will make a character with this design, but Tifa has already been designed, she belongs to those who love her, not those who prefer other characters, they can get their own favorites, they shouldn't try to change the characters others love.

Also note, if your argument is "she looks better now", please realize that YOU are the one sexualizing the character, and pretending that all that matters is whether or not she looks "good", I am not a huge fans of Tifas body type, never have been (I prefer 2b), but I don't judge the design based on whether or not I think she looks "good", I judge it based on whether or not she looks like "Tifa".
Also note, if you think having large breasts means someone is being sexualized, then again, it's you who are sexualizing the female shape. There is nothing inherently sexual about large breasts, the reason you see them as such is inherent TO YOU, and is not an argument for others to change.

All that having been said, the biggest issue about the design isn't the size of her breasts, it's the messed up color scheme.

What is Tifa being saved from exactly?

I am suspecting this is something to do with the FFVII remake - i nwhich cae, she is being saved from her ridicoulous cartoony appearance and given breast size that remains consistent which is far better than boobs that repeatedly change sizes dramatically without reason.

Furthermore, given that this is the discussion board for the original title (at least, the Steam version of the PC port) and NOT the remake - then there's no reason to be concerned at all, since this original Steam version WILL NOT BE CHANGING with regards to anything to do with the Remake (other than potential drop in price) and any other changes that might occur can always be retconned using the PC Steam version capacity for MODding.

So lighten up. It's all taken care of.
