I'm already using R1 + R2 but I guess I forgot my old strategy;-)
The second problem is because of the new German translation. For example, if the game says you'll get a phoenix down, you'll actually get a different item. That's why German players need a price list like: "items you should get" and "items you'll actually get"
Sadly, I'm already used to get bad German translations for games, movies or preety much everything ;-)
Unfortunately the chocobo racing prizes are very random, but the list I posted is accurate. You don’t know what the actual prize will be until after you win the race because it depends on who the top two racers are, but the prize will be one of those on the list.
If you’re still having problems with Joe, try using a black or gold chocobo on the long course. The stamina trick is more helpful the longer the race goes on, and a black or gold chocobo does not have any disadvantage against Joe when going through the water part of the track.
