Save Files Deleting?
A few months ago I played this game for about 3 hours. But after one weekend of not plaing it the save files deleted. I thought that this was a one time thing and I wasnt that far into the game anyway. So i played from the beginning this time with cloud saving on. i made sure to save in three different slots on two separate saves. I got passed Midgar and took a break for a week. When I came back my save files were gone again. Does anyone know why this happened or how to fix it?

The files are located here:
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Square Enix\FINAL FANTASY VII Steam\user_number
as FF7-Datas called save00.ff7 - save09.ff7.
If you activate the cloud system it will update the located files from the cloud. This system isn't good because it can happen that game files get deleted/changed when you don't want it.

So disable the cloud system. And save the files on an external harddrive after every gaming session.

You shouldn't type that. This is the folder many personal datas are saved. You have to go into your computer and go through those folders.

- C is your main harddrive
- User is the folder for all user on your system
- Username is the name of your login (there is one folder which is called public and one which is called like you named it)
- Documents is the folder where documents (savegames and screenshots for games for example) are saved.
- Square Enix is the folder from the final fantasy 7 publisher
- FINAL FANTASY VII Steam is the game folder itself
- user_number is the folder for final fantasy on your steam account.

Do you've disabled cloud sync? I had a save-data there with and without cloud-sync.

You can also go on your computer again, then type in save00 in the search bar and search for it. This takes some time depending on how much things you've on your pc.
After that you can right click the data you found and open the data folder. This folder should be the folder where the save games are saved.

Then you've no saved game in ff7. Even when you use the cloud sync you've save games on your pc (those sync up with the cloud ones).

so if i make a new file how would i prevent this from happening agian?

Disable the cloud, start the game, save the game asap and leave the game. Then you go into the folder I explained and you should've a file called save00.ff7 in it. These are all files in the block 1. Never activate the cloud again. And save the file sometimes on an external harddrive or something like that.

Hi zimp, to disable the Cloud saving feature, which RaimaND spoke of, do the following steps: go to your "Games Library", right-click on the FF7 icon, select "Properties" in the popup-list, select "Update" tab in the dialog and uncheck the "Steam Cloud" checkbox. Done! :-)
