Nevertheless, I like the combo of Added Cut and Steal/Deathblow.
Well, balance can't always be even. It feels great when you discover something powerful and it should be difficult when you don't understand what you're doing.
Nice combo though! What about defensive combos?
Magic counter+master summon materia is interesting to use, since you don't know what summon you'll counter with.
Counter+deathblow or counter+mime are pretty powerful, I remember the Bradygames guide had a list of materia combinations which I tried back in the day.
Wpn:(SneakAttack+Contain) (Added-Cut+Contain) (MP-Turbo+Contain) (MP-Absorb+Contain)
Arm:(HP-Absorb+Contain) (StealAsWell+Contain) (W-Magic+Contain) (Quadra Magic+Contain)
As soon as the battle begins, Sneak attack causes Cloud to launch Flare, Contain’s strongest spell, 8 times in succession, with an MP boost from MP Turbo for added damage, plus an added cut and steal attempt for each of the 8 magic attacks, not to mention that each attack nets you HP and more MP than was spent casting the spell. Essentially, you can do 8 x 9,999, plus 8 regular sword attacks, 8 steal attempts, and more HP and MP than you started with, and all without even selecting a command… Contain can be swapped out for 8 mastered versions of any damage causing magic materia to make this a little easier, as Contain isn't aquired until late in the game, and takes a whole lot of AP to master. For defensive purposes, you can take this same combo and swap out Sneak Attack for the Magic Counter materia, and the entire thing will happen the moment Cloud is hit
Added Effect + Contain made the Battle Square much easier, often causing instant-Petrify whenever I attacked.
And for longer battles, cast death sentence on her for 8x damage.
The Powersoul weapon's description says "power up when near death". Giving her death sentence status triggers this, giving her 4x damage. Critical health (when it goes yellow) also multiplies the damage, stacking in total for 8x damage.
Obviously, death blows often miss, but late game when you get the Mystile armour, all deathblows hit.
