Can someone explain it to me what new threat mod has to offer besides harder fights?
Most of videos about it are about gameplay without next to no explanation. All I saw were some new fights and some weird quest to ressurect Aeris.
Aside from that what does this mod has to spice it up?

It offers a lot, but off the top of my head:

-New monsters and boss fights
-Materia has different stat bonuses
-Summon materia only usable 1 per fight
-Rebalanced weapon, armor and accessories. They have stat bonuses too.
-Modified dialogue during certain sections
-Get to keep Aeris
-Many models received new or fresh texture swaps
-Many items re-worked and added
-New feature of gaining SP after battles. They are used to level up your characters an alternative way, which allows you to choose how to distribute your stats each time for customization.
-No source farming
-Kalm traveler gives different rewards
-When you visit major hub towns your party members will be somewhere doing their own thing.
-Some enemy skills were replaced / combined / tweaked / added
-Diamond weapon is actually a worthy opponent.
-Ultimate weapons and limit breaks have been moved to different locations, and often require a new boss fight. Same with materia caves.
-Materia locations also been swapped around. For example you get Morph materia outside Aeris' house instead of cover.
-Each character has innate abilities now. They are basically a character-specific passive. For example Barret gains attack power when hit in the front row, and defense when hit in the back row.
-New limit break for Cait Sith
-Yuffie and Vincent no longer optional
-Can change music from battle to field
-Eventually a new mode for the game will be released when it's finished.
-Tweaked and New Battle Square fights / prizes.
-Any time a new Fort Condor battle is available, an NPC will appear wherever you at are in the story to let you instantly teleport to FC and back when you're done. I love this feature so much saves a lot of time running back and forth. The FC battles are repetitive and easy but the rewards are good. I highly recommend doing the first few at least, they give super useful accessories for this mod.

Might be even more stuff, I'm still playing through it myself. A lot of the fun in this modhas been discovering what's been altered or added. If you want to see the mod in action or have any questions about it, feel free to message me or watch my broadcast if I'm online. Hope this helps!

Does everytime the mod is updated I have to begin the game from scratch? once the mod is installed, can I choose between play the vanilla or the mod (as long as they are in different save files)?
Also, if a summon is limited to 1 per battle, then what is the point of mastering the summon materias?

No you don't have to start from scratch, you can load up any of your save files with the mod if you'd like. Warning though, if you load up vanilla save files into NT mod far in the game you might be missing a lot of items, SP, levels, materia and other things you'd have at this point. Still doable but something to keep in mind.

To install the mod you have to swap out the files in the data folder. Therefore I suggest you copy the vanilla game data files to another folder and install NT. When you want to play original game just copy the NT data files to another folder, and move the original data back in place. This way you can swap to whichever version you want to play. It's helpful to have a seperate folder for each set of data files so you can tell which is which.

Summon materia only has 1 star and it begins mastered. Therefore each summon materia can only be used once per battle. They are stronger now though and most summons have a statis effect tied to them as well. Seems like a balance thing.

I'm really torn appart. I've seen some FF VII videos of neat tricks with summons that I would like to try, but I can't with this mod and go back and forth seems like a huge effort so if I were to play the modded version I woulod have to stick with it. I guess I'll play the vanilla while I wait for the mod to be updated once more so I can enjoy it more.

I've played through the original several times, so I was looking for a different experience. The mod has been very refreshing. It's understandable you'd want to do vanilla things before that (summon tricks are you put it). I'd encourage you to give NT a fair shake when you're ready. As to the other mode, I wouldn't worry about it. Just play the mod as it is for a great experience. It will be finished eventually (I hope!).

I have beaten this game 30+ times and discovered every possible secret with out the aid of interwebs because I am old and didnt know about walkthroughs when I first got the game. After hearing about how square intends to ruin the remake by making it an action based jrpg instead of just updating the graphics like we asked for, I can say I am so excited about this mod lol
in case you havent noticed, a lot of bosses that are 'weak' against gravity are also immune to it >.<

I never noticed that, also I agree that they have ruined the FF7's combat system. If this game comes to PC, I'll wait until someone kind enough creates a mod to make it run based.

Can't recall enemy who is weak and immune to gravity at the same time. If you are talking about high HP enemies gravity is blocked due to Damage limit. This is why Demi 3 which should reduce 75% HP will do ''only'' 9999 to Emerald Weapon which has 1 million hp.

SOrry I moved and it took me forever to get my sh together and set my rig back up because new job and general slothyness...

The boss at Junon is weak against gravity and immune to it at the same time. Bosses are often immune to gravity though, its possible that its HP is too high during the couple of tries I went at it. I'll try again after knocking some hp off and see what happens

There is technically a workaround. I saw this in DeathUnitesUs' stream of new threat. If you do W-Summon both times on one summon, it will only summon once, but if you then Mime it, it will summon twice

sorry for the necro. Im here from the future when ff7 remake has been released and i just wanna let you know its gameplay is so amazing i get a boner just by thinking of it. THey added some ♥♥♥♥ to the story tho. But the battle, sooo nice.
its always ok to talk about ff7 lol I beat the new game it was easy as cake. I like it as fan fiction but i wanted this game remastered so i feel trolled by square. New threat is 100x the challenge. DOnt get me wrong ill probably play through the remake once or twice more but its noting like the real ff7
