But at the same time I'm one of those people that has what's called OCPD (Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder), and thus I'm a ♥♥♥♥♥ to perfectionism and attention to minor details.
So of course I couldn't just let the Keyboard mapping alone even though I never use it, and I went and mapped the keyboard keys to the best of my abilities and to the place I felt they worked best (not only for combat but also for the mini-games) and somewhat mimicked the original PS1 controller relative button positions.
My configuration is as follows:
OK - D
CANCEL - S
MENU - W
UP - Arrow Key Up
LEFT - Arrow Key Left
RIGHT - Arrow Key Right
DOWN - Arrow Key Down
START - Space
SWITCH - A
PAGE UP - E
PAGE DOWN - Q
TARGET - Ctrl
ASSIST - Tab
CAMERA - Shift
If you're still not satisfied with my setup, you can try a variation of it by moving around those specific keys you feel don't work as good for you.
Some parts will still be somewhat of a bummer to play (be it on a keyboard or on a controller mind you) because the PC port will ALWAYS show you button prompts like this - "ASSIST", "CANCEL", "PAGE DOWN" and so on.
That's the main issue, and only through sheer memorization of which key/button is which will one be able to do those harder mini-games.
Anyways, cheers.
And here' hoping you'll have a good time replaying this timeless classic from a fellow fan.
- Movement on WASD
The four coloured PS1-controller buttons:
- Menu --> backspace
- OK --> enter
- Cancel/run --> right shift
- Change --> tabulator
This way, the buttons from the controller are sorted similar
(Menu above OK, OK above cancel. Change you hardly ever use)
