Serial Number on Startup?

The startup splash is asking for a serial key to be entered.....what? I didn't see where one was included for me to use, in any case this is a ridiculous extra step since the license should be tied to my steam account. Also, it looks like you can't play this game offline? Hopefully I'm wrong on that.

Yes, you can play offline once you have set everything up.

If you have not set-up an account on http://eu.square-enix.com, then you should go get one. Not only does it set-up cloud saves, but it synchronizes across different PCs and different configurations this way.
