RIFT
Thinking about trying this... What class do I pick? HELP!
If I play WoW, I'd pick a Monk..

If I play RO1, I'd pick Asura Strike Monk..

If I play Maplestory, I'd pick Pirate-Brawler/Eunwol..

If I play Diablo III, I'd pick SWK Monk..

If I play Diablo II, I'd pick Fury Druid/WW Barb/Zeal Paladin

If I play LoL, I'd pick Lee Sin, Udyr, Wukong..

If I play smite, I'd pick Sun Wukong..

If I play DotA 2, I'd pick Lycan..

If I play FF14: ARR, I'd pick a Monk..

You get my drift... which class or should I say dual class should I pick that will fit my general playstyle? I tend to play only character and do everything with just one character. I don't like to create multiple characters for different classes. So... suggestions?

Cleric

What about the other souls specialization from Cleric? One class = 3 souls right?
http://www.riftgame.com/en/characters/cleric/

Yes, but it depends on the Rift "edition" you have
-> classic souls for F2P
-> +4 stormlegion souls, a new one for every class
-> +4 nightmare tide souls, a new one for every class

there are some decent templates you can try right from the start, that will distribute your skillpoints for you, to get a feeling for your character...
but you can make your own souls selection at any time, just go to a class trainer and pick three souls you want to try out and distribute the points on your own.

So I can respec my souls for free or do I need to pay in-game money/real money to respec?

I don't think I am buying any of the stormlegion/nightmare tide souls yet unless I try and like the game.

edit: Will I need to buy the storm legion/nightmare tide expansion in order to play the content and experience the lvl65 new max cap? Or only buy to unlock souls?

The so called nightmare tide souls were released earlier in the Binding of Blood 2.7 patch, Nightmare Tide 3.0 is an expansion that gives level 65, new content, gear, ui changes, leveling changes, tweaks to the 2.7 souls and much more.

You can respec at a Class Trainer for a price it increases each time you repec and the price is by level.

You can also access all the content in the game just not the souls you have to buy them.

You can buy the souls or use platinum the choice is yours. (if you want to use plat then you need to bypass the credit cap via buying $5 worth of credits.)

Storm Legion Scroll for 3500 Credits ($25) or 2250 Platinum. (Requiresl Level 1)
Dream Soul Scroll for 5000 Credits ($40) or 4450 Platinum. (Requiresl Level 60)

For monk style you should go with Cleric - Purifier/Justicar/Warden.
For paladin style you should go with Warrior - Paladin/Liberator/Champion.
For brawler style you should go with Rogue - Bladedancer/Nightblade/? .
For barbarian style you should go with Warrior - Champion/Warlord/Riftblade.

Hey thanks! This is extremely helpful!
If you enjoy Rift, try to get your hands on a Rift Ultimate Edition box, the box offers a great start into Rift, and might still be cheaper then to buy a Steam bundle with similar content.
- 6 character slots on every server
- 2 more bag slots for every character
- a starter mount for every character
- 7k loyality, what will get rid of the auctionhouse limitation
- 30 days of patron status
- and some other things...

But the price for the box is increasing due to the Rift 3.0 update... there were a lot of those boxes available for 10€ on amazon, but now you have to pay around 20€ - but that is still a lot less then the 37€ for the Steam Classic Collectors Edition - or if you buy those things for your account/character one at the time in the Rift Store...

I would suggest reading this: Buy boxed game to unlock features?[forums.riftgame.com]
Nothing really monky monk, but Cleric class is probably the closest. The souls there (skill trees) seem most like what you listed.

With how the game works, as a Cleric, you can be Damage, Healing, Tank. If you buy from the Dream Soul pack, you get a soul that is Support.

I got a suggestion to go Purifier/Justicar/Warden.. But how does the distribution go? Are there any presets in the game that I can follow?

Yes I want a Cleric that is as close to a Monk as it can get. I want it to be Damage, Heal AND Tank just like Monks from other games like WoW and FF14: ARR..
untill ya reach lvl 60 most builds will change along the way. but there are preset builds where ya can click and will put ya points where they should go based on build type. now at lvl 60 most players are at 61 point builds and the builds can be found by googling rift and the class ya playing. cant rememebr the what the sites called but let your fingures do the typing and good luck.
