Rift wont play

Currently playing on windows 10 from the launcher because of the update, haven't played in a while and thought i'd try with the new expac. however the launcher installs fine to the specified directories and runs from SSD, also note i tried the default installs first, sadly every trion game runs but rift which fails to open a load screen.

I click play and it opens the window goes to a black screen and crashes within 5 seconds saying there's an error. i've contacted glyph and trion about this incase it was an issue on my end but it took 2 weeks before they even recognised that there was an issue and cant do anything from it, this includes me sending them several dxdiag files and trying to emulate the issue elswhere. however to no avail they haven't been able to help me and claim they run it fine on win 10. so the issue must be on my end. i have all the current drivers and all up to date windows updates as well as enough computer power to run it.

Win 10
EVGA GTX 780ti
16 gb kingston HyperX RAM
2x 2 tb HDD
3x 480gb SSD
1x 1tb SSD

only problem with my pc is my monitor, it's an old one and the glyph window is larger than the screen resolution of 1024x768 (new monitor arrives in 2 weeks so)

If anyone can help i'd really apppreciate it as RIFT is the only game that wont run on this system and i dont know why and it's frustrating.

Win 10 is not out yet, you will find older versions of the buiild on win 10 that works with Rift, Try win 7 or 8.1 perhpas. Search the threads here and I have seen folks talking about builds that play better or at least load Rift. Win 10 will keep changing until its finished so many games will break during that timeframe. Overall its not a good choice but for testing purposes atm. I can see someone dual booting or running in a virtrual machine but why game on windows 10 already?

Rift does the same thing for me on Steam. about to try to launch directly from win 8 to see what happens

it does it from launcher and from steam i was wondering if anyone knew a fix

i guess you tried graphic drivers, running as administrator? etc the basic stuff
wild guess maybe try running it on single core

Hmm did it load ever? It could be encounrtering bad settings, but just in case...try the full Microsoft DirectX end user kit too. You pic is showing up blank to me so I cannot tell how far ity is getting.

Right click on the Rift client (through Glyph) and do a repair.

Rift is known to not work yet with windows 10.

tried those too and driver updates and run as admin etc.

thats why i came here, but i'll try a fresh install of 8.1 on a seperate ssd just for rift if this is the case as it wasn't working before! :/

yes i'm aware it's in beta before anyone goes down that route but i was hoping for a workaround as it worked in previous version of 10

Odd, i have 2 setups, both running latest Windows 10 builds. 10041. My 5 year old laptop will play Rift without a problem. Where as my new system, Which is running almost the same specs as OP, does not work.

PS, I am really enojying using Windows 10. Everything that i require of the OS works for me. Just because Rift does not work, to some dergree, as it works on my laptop with Windows 10, I will be continuing to use Windows 10 happily.

I've begun having the same issue the OP is having today. Uninstall /fresh downloads /fresh installs haven't fixed it. (Win7 HP - have 2k hours ingame - pc is capable). This wasn't a change on "my end", afaik. Went to log in as normal, got a black screen from Glyph that can only be exited via task manager and never allows anything further.
I'm interested to know if you, like me, have noticed in task manager, that it never even tries to connect to the server (according to the networking tab). Zero activity on it whatsoever.
