I'd go with Rift, you have a good tutorial and you can choose from several premade soul setups, that come along with guides to read up about the soul setup choice you made.

If you like what you see in Rift, you can also take the ascend-a-friend key from my profile for some starter items for every character you create in Rift, and a few referral coins for me. ;)

Anyway, most important thing, have fun playing.

RIFT Account Types and Restrictions[support.trionworlds.com]

Content isn't Restricted in Rift....You can't post items on the auction house, your max currency limit is 2,500 platinum, you're limited to 2 bags and 1 inventory, and two characters.

Unlock Everything[www.rift.trionworlds.com] ($150)

EQ2 F2P Restrictions...

All players get everything up to Chains of Eternity (level 92) for free. If you buy the most recent Altar of Malice expansion ($40), then you also get Tears of Veeshan expansion and thus you have all the expansions.

Then you're only missing a few a la carte items:
  • Freeblood race
  • Aerakyn race
  • Beastlord class
  • Channeler class
  • Mercenaries
  • Reforging feature
  • Tradeskill Apprentice feature

@ Ironquest: thanks 4 the info m8. I'll google the ascend thing u mention, thanks 4 the offer.

@ virpyre: thanks for the info m8. So which 1 would u say is most restrictive for F2P ? & which would u say is easiest to pick-up ?

Rift will be FAR easier to pick up. It will run better on your system too. Most likely higher population as well im guessing

@ Psylar: thanks 4 the info m8. Thats what i was wondering, thanks. Nice dogs too.

What does population mean, & why does it matter ?

More players around you right from the start, and a game feels more alive with that.

Right now the carnival event is still running in Rift, and you can get a few nice items with carnical currency.

Not to forget the 4th anniversary codes:
J3PN-NXKR-GRKQ-WYHN-2RNK
Legacy of the Delve (Dwarven Smithy Goggles)

RMJR-3EKZ-JZKD-LXGE-YQZG
Cleric’s Consolation (Title: “The Devotee”)

T6NG-NP9N-HPPY-3CYJ-RM7E
Hoot to Thrill (Hootie Companion Owl)

So, go on, download (unless you want to track your Rift game time, really go with the official Rift game launcher, the Glyph Launcher and download it from the Trion Worlds webpage) Rift and play the game! :D

Ironquest: Ok cool, DLing now, 15GB/19GB done :ss13ok::cybereye:
What r those codes ? they look like Steam Keys ? :questdone:
Wolverine 10 marca 2015 o 0:52
Those codes come from a new email this morning, Trion World activate those 4th anniversary codes for everyone now.
You can pick them up and use them in your Rift account page.

Those are real promotion codes
link: http://www.riftgame.com/en/infographic/
to prove it.

Oh, ok. So will i get sent these ?
Wolverine 10 marca 2015 o 1:08
You can pick them right from here, or you can write them down from the infographic page... not sure about the email, that depends on if you opt in to receive promotional emails from Trion Worlds.

Again, those are official codes, nothing shady behind it.

And you can redeem them on
https://rift.trionworlds.com/
in your account page, and they will directly show, what you got from them.

Oh, ok. I actually just noticed in my Steam Library page under DLC that i've got RIFT: 4th Anniversary Gift. Is that the same as the code that u linked ?
Wolverine 10 marca 2015 o 1:39
Nope, but you can use that code too in your account page, to get the items from it with the ingame mail.

Woah, nice. Free codes everywhere, good time to join, lol.
My wife got me a Razer Naga 2014 for X-Mas & i think it came with a cape for RIFT. I'll need to look into it.
virpyre 10 marca 2015 o 7:39
Try both, since they are both free theyre both essentialy the same game, but rift has more players. If you like raiding EQ2 has a pretty strong end game community. Rift's end game community seems a bit less well formed probably because you can do pretty well in that game never really interacting with the community (dungeon finder, solo content, PVP queuing, etc.). You hit a wall pretty fast in EQ2 unless you want to join up with others.

Technically Rift is probably a better game and definently more solo friendly but EQ2 has a ton more content and better formed end game community IMO.

The naga is still active: http://www.razerzone.com/razer-rift-redemption-2014

I had no idea about the 2014 razor bonus items lol, ive been playing with one this whole time! thanks for the tip! Also Rift is WAY better than Eq2 in my opinion. Rift is based on a newer, better looking more streamlined style of mmo while Eq2 is a big bloated beast that has definitely seen its better days.
