RIFT

Is this game P2P or P2W?
is Rift pay to play or pay to win. I don't care if I have to grind a little while longer to get where I'm at. I have the time, but I do care if my basic access to this game is restricted if I don't cough up the dough. If that's the case I regret even downloading this game. And I played 30 min of this game it doesn't feel fun at all.

It's neither P2P nor P2W. Rift is so far the only real F2P game I have seen, and I have played a lot of them. The only basic thing restricted is your ability to post auctions, and even that can be removed by buying a REX from someone in game. Hats off to Trion for the amazing payment scheme.

The F2P is fair in Rift.
If you enjoy playing Rift, buy a Rift Game Box in any Edition you can find online for a few $.
Add a Nightmare Tide Typhoon or Infusion Edition (k.i.n.g.u.i.n-n.e.t have a few cheap ones...) to it.
And you are all set up.

The two soul packs (Storm Legion and Dream) can be obtained with ingame currency from a "shopseller", just play for it.
Same goes for at least the NMT Typhoon Ed, if you want to save a few $ here.

Hint to finding a shopseller, first make sure that the shopseller is level 65 and has decent equipment. That he is also in a good guild, and that he is selling shopitems on a regular basis.
Overall it should show, that he cares about his character...
And allways make the deal clear in the chat, and be precise on the terms, how much plat. for what item, and make sure that he agrees to it.
From there it's either plat. first and then comes the item as a gift with ingame mail, or the gift comes first and then the plat., it all depends on the shopseller.

This might take a while to find a good shopseller, but that is better then getting ripped off.

The game is not p2w at all. The only thing money buy is time. You get more exp, more platinum, more currency for dungeon gear (not raid gear), but that's about it.

You might get geared up faster, but nothing else. Everything can be bought ingame with REX and is quite simple to get them.

New souls are cool to have, but not a necessity. If you like raiding, you're probably going to need them, but that's just some grinding for plat and you'll get there.

Levelling can bit annoying if you don't like questing.

Most people will turn to Instant Adventures, Dungeons and Wafronts.

The game is cool is you like questing game, with no open pvp and are focused on either raiding or playing with cool people.

There is no content to buy. All zones, dungeons, instances, quests, etc. are open to free players.

There are perks to buy, such as the Nightmare Tide collectors edition(s) and the soul packs though.

For a new player enjoying the game, I would wait until you near level 55-60 before making purchases there unless you want one of the souls for soloing purposes. Once at 60 it makes your life a whole lot easier to buy the Nightmare Tide, the cheap one will do unless you want fluff that CE has, to unlock the earring slots and the ability to equip some quest gear and drops.

I back the comments of all the above. this is a true ftp game, I personally have bought everything you can buy in game with real life money, with in game money from the rift store by purchasing rex from people. only complaint about the game imo are the ever so extremley gay looking mounts.
Kris Reddish 2015 年 3 月 11 日 下午 11:36
Comparied to what game? The mounts are a bit bland, minus a few, but at least they are not low polygon blue eyerape dragons, or sparkes the flying unicorn like some games I know. :P I plan on spending money, but for the same reason I walk to the corner store ang get milk instead of walking 2 miles and paying less. This game is pay for conveince, but its fine for free, and one of the better models of F2P I have seen. You can buy stuff, but then you can farm most of what you can buy, and bar that, you can buy REX from the auction and bamn, buy stuff with the credits it gives you. So if you pay, its becuase you want to, not becomes you have to. I have to admit it makes me kinda want too. I am lazy. :P

I'd be repeating basically every response in this thread if I typed out my response.

Basically most if not all the items that you must pay for with real money are cosmetic items that do not do much. The game holds various "World Events" that allow all players to participate in and potentially obtain special items, such as mounts, costumes that do literally nothing but look nice, and companions that also do nothing, but hey, you just got a tiny reindeer to follow you around as you kick butt.

However, in order to use the auction house, you need to hit a certain level of "Loyalty". All I did for that was pay $5 for credits, and that was that. REX costs so much that by the time you gather enough money for it, you could have gotten loyalty points by other means instead.
Wolverine 2015 年 3 月 13 日 下午 1:13
If you aim for lifting the auctionhouse limit, do yourself a favour, and go for a Rift Game Box or Code in any (cheap) Edition you can get your hands on.
Yes, you will pay a bit more, but in the long run you will also get a lot more out of this for your whole account, then with just buying some credits from the Rift Shop.
