ArcheAge just feels and looks like the typical asian grinder MMO, with a bit less grind due to changes made before they released it in the "west".
Overall ArcheAge is not a bad game, but in the end, the game is what it is.
Not to forget that ArcheAge is only published by Trion Worlds, but not really maintained, which means that they have to wait for bug fixes or updates and can not just make them by themself... and do not forget about that creepy HackShield Software that you need to even play AA.
And as Ironquest said, they didnt make it, only published, and not only does it mean waiting for fixes/updates, it also means changes to the system cant be made unless the asian and russian marked also want the change.
Archage -
Population: seems higher. I'm not sure though, since Rift has been around longer.
Much more PVP
Pro:
1) Graphics - I think they're spectacular
2) Flying, boating, driving, mounts - Its great to fly in a glider from mountain to mountain over huge areas @ 1000ft in the air, and you get to do that early in the game.
3) Guilds - there's lots of great guilds that help you out and can really benefit the game
4) Not as much fantasy - for me this is was a plus. Big Castles, Cities, Villages seem at least partially realistic. Of course there's some fantasy, but not as much as TERA and Rift or most other games.
Con:
1) Bots: there're endless fake gardeners and traders, effectively destroying the game
2) Grind & PVE: the grind is really terrible. Just to plant, build and craft takes forever, and story quests finish by level 30. There are some cool instances though, but effectively PVP begins at lvl 30 and you will be gang raped every step of the way.
3) Better pay up: If you want to do most things, you need to be a sub. Otherwise, get a friend/guild that can help you. There are occasional gifts and events though, but still... you just can't do much without a sub.
4) Playable area without PvP: As mentioned, your game basically ends around level 30. After that, you're expected to go into PVP areas.
RIFT is basically the above, but in reverse.
