Confused about all the DLC
If I wanted to start playing Rift, what do I actually need to buy to be caught up with the latest expansion? There's all this DLC for different Soul packs and Editions and it's all very confusing.

I want to buy whatever I need to have access to all the game's content, for example with World of Warcraft you would buy the Battle Chest and then Warlords of Draenor and you'd be good to go. What are the equivalent purchases here?

I plan on subscribing which I assume also unlocks some base functionality.

You don't need ot buy anything to have access to the game content, the packs are just makes things go fasters so don't have to farm later, if you want to get any the packs, check out the Laethys’ Fortune Pack right now is pretty good deal, give you all the souls, and 3 months of parton.

Then RIFT: Infusion Edition, RIFT: Typhoon Edition or RIFT: Ultimate Nightmare Edition there on sale too, thats up to you, what you can spend, the Infusion Edition is the best deal one can get.

So pretty much, RIFT: Infusion Edition and Laethys’ Fortune Pack both of them together is good to have if your planing playing for long term, I'm sure somone will explain better then i can:)

And don't use the 60 intants boost from Infusion Edition if you do get it can save it in your bank, and just level and learn the game more don't rush it and get lost.

Thanks for the info! I think I understand now. Laethys' Fortune Pack I will get for sure because of the Patron status and Souls, will consider the Infusion Edition after I've put a bit of time in.

Go for Laethys Fortune Pack, it has all the soul packs in it, and 3 months of subscription time too.
Add the Nightmare Tide Infusion Edition to this and you're all set, but trade the level 60 booster pack for 3-4 REX, and put those REX into your bank for later.
Welcome to Rift, have fund and enjoy the game, you can use also the ascend-a-friend key from my profile for a few more starter extras for your characters.

Personally mate, I'd just consider starting the game and playing a little before making any decisions. Trion has a sale on it's own website at the moment. I'm nearly max level and dont use any of the Soul Packs.

The sales goes on until the 21th, enough time to see if Rift is a game for you or not. Just don't wait until the last day, or you might miss out on saving quite some money...
