I'm guessing you chose the Frozen Twister as the preset...it's a dps, support, ranged caster role that's easy for beginer's if you want more of a melee type though then you should go with Holy Fire Shaman or The Lawbringer.

so basicly my reaction time will increase as i lvl up??

Are you referring to the cooldown of an ability you're using? You should have other abilities you can put into your hotbar and use that have a shorter cooldown. Press "P" to bring your abilities menu up and see if there is anything you can use.

For a preset build for a new player I cant recommend Lawbringer enough, its a really great build with decent dps and survivability.
Its a ranged build tho so if its melee you want probs not the best. Its decent all the way up to 60 & even while grabbing some early 60's world gear or sle, but needs some defiler soul points spent to make it more effective at end game.

Actually you will notice that some attacks you have synergize with each other.....i call this a combo chain. As in you can hit a specifc button to attack over and over....but if you hit specifc abilities in a certain order you not only have no wait time....but the attacks go off real fast and seam to perfectly recharge so you can do it again.

Also your chosen weapon will determine how fast you attack as well.

Two handed weapons are slow....as opposed to a single handed weapon.

You will also find your attacks getting slowed by your own parry and dodge and blocking.

I don't know how many people know this but, in a 2011 patch Trion did a casting/melee speed reduction to 25% across the board for every class.

The reduction mainly affects auto-attack swings by 25% take into consideration that in PvP a melee class is only dealing about ~5% (I know it varies by soul/spec.) of their total damage with their autoattacks.

A melee class has no cast time on his abilities and suffers none of these adverse effeects aside from a roughly 25% decrease in 5% of their damage output, amounting to less then 2% damage lost, making this unworth the global cooldown to cast it.

A casting classes will receive a 15-25% reduction in damage output, whereas the very same spell will incur approximately 2% reduced damage on a melee. Take note that casters can inrease there casting speed by stacking Haste, this however doesn't work as well for melee.

i am refering to just plain attack, not using any powers, just normal attack

um you need to not just use your auto attack...you want to use your abilities....thats what they are there for.

On melee characters you will notice your first special ability is a melee attack. this game is a litle bit odd....as it has the auto attacks...but also you have the special ability attacks.

Since your mana and other attributes go back up fast....they want you to use those special attacks....the auto attacks happen every so often still on their own...and are just icing on the cake.

Now if you where a mage or priest with certain powers...like the light power or pyromancy i could understand thinking your atatcks are slow....because they are....not sure why but they messed up those two souls probably they messed up more...by making the primary attacks have a long cast time....3 seconds casting for damage that is less then other souls is silly.

Anywise use your special abilities thats what you are supposed to do.

Remember you are a ressurected hero from the old days.....so not using your powers is very silly.

If you think that you can get away by auto-attacking and using abilities occassionally, you'll be toast.
I say from my experience as a Ranger, my auto-attack speed with the bow is slow af, hence, I always keep using abilities.
