Automatic allocation of soul points

I don't like it that the system allocates my soul points on the tree. However, I cannot find the place where you can turn this automatic allocation off.

Every time I get points and it gives me a message that I got soul points, I go to the tree but the points have already been allocated to a char type created by somebody. I want my own choices not a cookie cutter char .

Anybody know?

When you reset your points and you have window to choose a preset is open, click "Close" in the bottom right.

Or clicking the "Preset" button at the bottom center closes it too.

You can then change the soul trees to the ones you want until you put at least 1 point into that soul. (once you put a point into any soul tree saved, you will need to reset your souls again to change/remove it)

Yes you can turn this off right off by simply by clicking each skill set in your soul menu.

But ehre is the thing...you wont be able to change a skill set if you have already put points into it....for example I have Tactician/Bard/Ranger....i have not spent points in ranger at all....so ic an freely change it when i want....the other tow though i have spent points in and I am stuckw ith them unless i use a respec item.

My advice is dont waste time with a respec....just go to your trainer for your main class and get a new soul set.....thenyou can have lots of builds.

Can someone for the love of god, please explain properly how to turn off, click off, doggle off, shut off - "Auto Soul Tree Points:"???
Ive been reading and reading and following every step, but people dont understand that what ever button they are talking about
Its not there.
I look at the entire screen and even had other people look at the as screen, and nothing there.
How do I turn it off. - Where exactly ??

You cant turn it off once you have already enterred that route per se.
Go to your class trainer and reset your souls, when you enter your soul tree again it'll ask you to select one of the pre-set classes, press close instead of selecting one and you can now set your own souls/skills

Jfyi, those are not "cookie cutter builds", those are builds made by veteran players for new players to just level/play without any thinking about the soultree, and those premade builds all come along with a proper guide, to help new players into Rift.

If you want to do your own soul setup, all you have to do, is right after the character creation,
open your soultree with N,
or through the menu in the left lower corner
pick the souls you want
accept that you want to do your own points distribution
distribute your first point
and it is done.

If you want to do your own soul setup after the tutorial at some point,
visit a class trainer
reset your souls
you might see the premade soul setups again, chose close and you will see your soultree
pick your souls
distribute your points
and it is done.
