IF YOU'VE ALREADY DOWNLOADED RIFT VIA STEAM, AND STILL HAVING ISSUES LAUNCHING, TRY THIS
Right click RIFT in your games list.
Click Properties.
Click local files tab at the top.
Click Verify integrity of game cash...
Wait for check.
Download additional/missing files.
Re-Launch RIFT like normal, should run the Glyph patcher for you.
Any luck, at this point I've uninstalled and redownloaded and reinstalled 3 times with no change. Also Steam Wallet integration doesn't work for me if I manually launch Rift.
I hit Play on Rift game screen then get the Glyph login screen login and see rift screen then it deisappears??? WTF?!?!?! and please help
I'd say what he is smoking is corrupted files happen (<sarcasm>because, you know, that NEVER happens in a Windows environment</sarcasm>). I had this same problem were the Glyph client would launch but when I hit Play the Glyph client would say Verifying then the status bar would go away and nothing. Luckly when I tried running the Glyph client as Administrator and repeated the same steps I got an error message stating one of my DirectX DLLs was corrupt and I needed to reinstall. I used the DirectX Web Installer from Microsoft's website and this resolved the issue. This may not solve everyone's problem but it did solve mine and I haven't had a problem since so it's worth a try for anyone having this issue.
To stuff later mentioned in the thread:
Direct X may be installed, but Direct X is cunning and tricky. I'd always recommend reinstalling specific versions of Direct X as later versions often leave out specific files. It's not ideal, but it's a pretty common problem that a lot of games experience from time to time.
Also for email, please contact us. It could be one of a million things. For example if you have social tab enabled on Gmail, authorization codes show up in the social tab not the regular mail tab. Not something we can control at all. And that's one example of configuration of one email provider.
Just delete or rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RIFT\GlyphClient.cfg and start rift through steam again. Seems worked to me.
I got the install file from this location-

I hope this helps if this issue comes up for anyone again xD
I had an occasion to load Windows 10 on my PC. After fully updating it, I then loaded Steam, followed by D2050. I never could get it to work. I put it aside till later, but kept having problems with Win10 anyway, so I reverted back to Win7. After fully updating, I again loaded Steam, followed by D2050. Again, to my surprise, no joy. On the previous D2050 install under Win7, before the Win10 upgrade, D2050 worked.
I started searching the forums and tried all the usual suggestions. Updating DirectX did nothing. Totally uninstalling and reinstalling both Steam and D2050 did nothing. Switching the properties of GlyphClient to Run as Admin actually caused a msvcr120.dll error. Thinking to erase the Glyph folder as suggested in the forums, I noticed that there was no Glyph folder, as the files were part of the main D2050 folder, found under, in my case, c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Defiance 2050.
This is where I got irritated. I looked at all the files in the main D2050 folder that said Glyph in their name. There were 7 of them. 5 executables, one Glyphclient.cfg and one Glyphclient.xml. I then deleted the exec's, but not the CFG or XML file.
I restarted Steam, then clicked on the Play button for D2050. It errored, saying files were missing. I clicked on it a 2nd time, and Steam re-updated the D2050 folder, presumably with fresh copies of the files I just deleted.
This time, the launcher came right up, with the game correctly launching after pressing the Play button in the launcher. The game is currently running as I am typing this, with no issues.
If anyone else is still having this same sort of problem, I hope the steps I did above can be of some use to you in solving your problem. Again, there is no guarantee it will.
