If you lived closer to me and we were friends, I'd lend you a Thrustmaster FFB wheel.
For optimal time you minimally brake to make the turn until the apex and then you apply maximum acceleration to exit the turn.
And the rule for longer tyre life is to brake earlier and softer towards the apex and accelerate later and softer from the apex. You coast the corners and you don't jerk around the steering wheel. And don't let the tyres get too cold or too hot.
Just a stupid test, imo
I get 100% purple wear with a gamepad with 5 to 7 seconds left on the lap times. So something must be wrong with your gamepad or it's calibration.
It's a little more challenging, which is good.
Not so easy with keyboard since you cant just half/quater turn. Even if you cant "physically" turn more the game reads it as you want to turn 100% max as far as the car can physically turn the wheel, so even at low speeds its forcing more then is needed in any situation. Which fights the force of the car and the aerodynamics increasing wear.
Best way around it is either use a controller, or get a wheel. Or just avoid the tyre wear tests.
