The game does a bad job at explaining it.
But I think you actually just have to use one of these sets in the race.
But yeah:
If he started with SS (not one of the demanded sets - because this one was used in Q2) and switched to US, it is possible the 2 demanded sets were SS and S... and none of these sets was used.
I notice in online that when I use the compound inbetween the other 2 for 1-shot, at least the strategy menu at the start forces me to use the hardest compound, too. Not sure if I can change without consequences mid-races, either way, it's a bug.
I won't rule a bug out. Its possible. But here it sounds like he simply didnt use any of the "have to use one of them" sets of tyres.
I got a drive through for speeding in the pitlane (entered with 70kmh / 80 were allowed), used the replay twice and the drive throughs stacked up even if I entered the pitlane with 60kph when I tried again (so I had 3 drive throughs).
I know that there are still bugs :P
But this looks pretty correct.
You get 2 specific sets (S and Medium). You have to use one of them ( a set, not a compound). Since the S you started on was the qualy tyre, it wasnt the specific race set. And you did not use the specific M.
It is not a bug.
Since this year.
At least that is how I understand the rules... they are quite confusing :P
mind you: F 1 makes things waaay too complcated and should go back to basics ( including refueling during pit stops ) hence the trouble the sport is in : it's decidedly boring b/c of those plethora of rulesets and 100 % domination of teams - I should say "team "though -with most cash .This season in Indycar series you had a 0.004 difference between 1st and 2nd car AND you had car driving at podium-position run out of fuel in final lap ...F1 should learn from that :)
Where you can choose tires for stints, it will show you the mandatory tires and they will light up if your strategy contains the mandatory tires.
You have to use one of the two mandatory sets.
I don't think refueling needs to come back, it would be a bad move.
I couldn't disagree more. Refueling was a key part of F1 since it started in 1950, and before during the gran prix days pre war. Over 70 years it was a crutial part of strategy, and still is for almost every single motorsport. It really really needs to come back to add back a layer of strategy that was lost making the races more exciting and less predictiable. And it will give the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams ALOT better chance at winning so it's not 19/20 races won by the same team every year like it has been since the refueling was removed from the sport.
Refueling won't change who dominates. It won't and doesn't need to come back.
