I try to do at least 10 so you get the maximum bonus in each session (I do the shorter practice sessions I think its 30/30/20)

Unless it is raining I try to get all the tests done in P1 to take the pressure off so:
Climitise on whatever tyres it recommends 1-3 laps
Qualifying test on the softest compound (your first 2 tyres are going to be handed back so if there is a soft there I will use it) 1-2 laps
If there is time the tyre deg test on the hardest compound tyres 8 laps

Then I run in P2 a full fuel hard tyre run so I can get use to running 10 laps back to back with a full tank.

Then P3 I alternate a few fast runs to get in for qualifying and a mid compound run mainly to run up the laps.

I drive 10 laps in P1, to get used to the circuit (and get the 10 R&D points), do the tyre test and circuit recon test in P2, and add a few laps to get to 10 laps, then do the qualification simulation test in P3 and add a few more laps to get close to 10 but I usually don't have the motivation to do it.

Unpopular opinion: I'm 4 races in and already losing interest in the practice sessions and their challenges. It seems to me they are not worth the time and don't give too many points.

Maybe, not sure yet, I will end up doing only qualy+race.

P1- track acclimatisation + tyre management
P2- tyre management (2nd compound) + 3-5 laps
P3- tyre management (3rd compound) + qualifying pace

Can't I have an option to not do 3 practice sessions? It seems like it's gonna take me an eternity to get to actually race. But if I don't do all the boring practice stuff, I don't get any points. Surely there is an option I am missing?

In the session info screen from the garage where you can see the tests and timing ect. you can jump to the next session or jump to quali if you want to. Though you will lose out on 265 resource pnts total if you skip all of the 3 practice sessions and tests. But once you do the tests for the pnts, which goes very fast a matter of a few mins, you can then jump ahead to the next session and save like 20-30 mins if you don't want to run for the rest of that session. That way you'd only lose out on the bonus points for laps run and still get the bulk of the points for the tasks rather quickly.

And of course if you don't want to do the whole career progression, simulating development with r&d tasks ect. you can just do the championship mode instead of career mode and simply immediately jump to quali skipping the practice sessions. That's why that option is there.

One thing I hadn't a clue about, was the tyre wear test. I have no idea how to keep it in the green? :P

I'm on keyboard, so it's practically impossible for me.

I mean, are you allowed to do it slowly? Or do you have to race around the track fast while keeping it in the green? I'm a complete noob with it. Also..........how in the F.........do you race with a keyboard lol. That adds a whole new super hard difficulty i'd imagine. :)

You gotta keep a certain lap speed when testing wear.

And FYI for keyboard, I am between Master and Legend difficulties... I find it much more accurate than a steering wheel/pedals
