Career mode and Difficulty
I am suck at driving... There i said it first
I am using ordinary xbone controller, without any steering wheels or pedals.
Assists are normal (some off some on)

But there is a huge AI difficulty between Hard and Expert
I tried career mode with Manor on Hard and it was just soo easy, always pole position, and the whole race i just stayed at 1st
But at Expert, i was on Red Bulls, i couldn't even complete one single training (sometimes green)

Does everyone feel the same?

Had the same problem between Expert and Legend, but then - Master difficulty level was introduced, so that kinda sorted it out.

One tip for you: if hard is too easy - try not to increase a difficulty of AI, but try to make yourself slower, by changing assists to professional or elite.

That is what i did
I changed my camera to cockpit mode ( i was on "behind helmet" camera before)
Turned off all HUD
removed TCS and yeah... Crashed... all the time
But that made me slower... a lot slower than before

thanks for you tip man

i'd suggest just go for the harder difficulty... you will learn out of it and become faster...

In my experiance, game started to get boring at times, but once I turno off HUD - things changed. I became 0.5XX sec slower for some reason.

It's pretty much 2 seconds a lap as far as I know between each difficulty, except since Master was added. Sadly it's a good car at the back or a bad car at the front for many.

the driver AI is a separate setting you can alter mid season. maybe mid race (not tried that myself). im on lowest AI setting, qualified a manor on pole by over a second and then after two corners seb vettel tags me left rear and we both end up last place - and i still wind up winning with a 60 s gap to 2nd.

sebs AI is very accurate it seems. it even tries to ram you out of the way lol.

No less accurate than Ricciardo and Verstappen trying to murder you in every single corner, just as they do in real life. In fact, out of 7 100% attempts I've never seen Verstappen finish a single race in Australia. Little wonder Vettel has to ram them out of the way if they're even halfway as childish and terrible at wheel to wheel racing as their AI counterparts.

Put difficulty on max and practice it. You will get better. Trust me.

Past a certain point you have to remember that it's only a game. It's little more than a bandaid fix for CM's staunch refusal to add functionality similar to a slider, one that even puts everything in the hands of the player, which is ridiculous. If this were solely a multiplayer game you'd have a point, but as it stands, that's a bit extreme.

I use a wheel with pedals so maybe this is why i recommend ultimate difficulty? :D
But yeah you need to work hard on it to become better.

I am well above Ultimate difficulty. That does not mean that a problem as simple as the difficulty levels being too far apart below Master should solely be resolved by the player, no matter how much slower they may be.

You are not completly wrong

2 months ago (when i was create this post) i got a huge struggle with AI difficulities from Hard to Expert

This is my "Assist Setting" back then:

Brake Assist : Low
Anti lock brakes : On
Traction Control : Full
Racing line : Full 3D
Gearbox : Automatic
Pit Assist : Off

Played with Xbox one controller ( I dont have any sterring wheels whatsoever)

After a month playing this game, now i am at Extreme difficulities (One above expert)
Practice makes perfect

But... i tried turning off all the assist
Nope... i tried 10 laps practice on my favorite belgium track, not gonna happen
It just soo damn hard to control the car from Xbox one controller

So right now i am turning Trac Control to medium, Anti lock brakes off, and drop down the difficuliy to Expert... that is my soft spot right now

I promote TRL Limitless' vids far too much but he did make one in which he kinda proved that turning assists off will make you slower. It will make you a better person but not make you faster,..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSUlqKo_6zI

Pls stop reading this if you do not want to listen to my rant;

[The distance between the skill gaps in AI is stupid, around 2secs if you believe me, but to achieve 2secs in a race is silly compared with setting a quali lap, cos tyre wear and the odd mistake will not be compensated by the UI, instead they skill gap the UI to try to compete, even though they will set a lap more than a second beyond their quali lap just to keep up with any early attempt to a quick push strat whilst you burn through fast tyres for maybe a longer stint in the second half. You try to make a gap, you don't make one and your tyres are dead and theirs are fine. They also slow down the AI by making them break early, but not by giving them any disadvantage in the traction zone, (confirmed all AI use default settings with full assists, but boost to keep up with you) which srews anyone without assists, especially on tracks like Australia with very difficult traction zones, and you will get rear ended on any straight. ]

PS. Anyone who has played the first 2 races knows the AI needs to be patched once TT data has come in because Aus is way harder than Bahrain, by a terrible margain.

Say a prayer for F1 2017, to be fair I could not make a good F1 game, :s

On the flip side, at least they suffer on that front on all difficulties. Outside of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ corners where they clearly use simplified physics even beyond mere assists, the AI is very easy to beat in traction zones.
