Worth buying?
I haven't played a Civ game before -- wondering if I should get it or just go straight to Civ 4 Complete.

If it's your first Civ game then buy this! It was my first Civ game and it got me hooked.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm gonna go for it.

I have the retail version of it, but decided to buy it on sale too, just for nostalgia reasons (and I can't be arsed to look up the discs again). I installed this one first instead of Civ IV... ohh the memories...

Even if it isn't your first Civ game, this is well worth the money.

CIV 1-2-3 I played so much (mostly civ 1 and 3). Buying this one right away

I think its worth buying both civ 3 and 4, both great games. And civ 3 is dirt cheap, just over 1 euro :P

this game is harder to get into but is way better than IV or V

so far my experience with V is kinda weird. cant stack units and the loading seems just a bit too much. also not sure if there is accelerated growth, but i always used it in III. stuff is just taking forever to happen.

For less than a buck and a quarter you pretty much got nothing to lose other than a bad cup of coffee. I personally logged about 170 Hours in IV, 150 in V, and 38 in III and I disliked 3 the most. The control of the game feels very clunky/clicky though the diplomacy seems to somehow be better than what's in V (the all or nothing AI). I also don't like how vulnerable you are to attacks seeing as a few knights can cruise from one side of the planet to the other in a single turn (fixed in IV and a non-issue in V due to the totally different combat). Overall the game left a bitter taste for me but like I said at worst you lose a bad coffee.

That's a point, true story. Agree.
