How to use Trainer

Hi, I followed the civ series since 2 BUT mods are a new thing to me, it's not so bad on steam with civ v as you click and its all sorted but, after learning this version of civ 3 dosen't have inbuilt cheats I decided to download a 'trainer' v1.29 from the civ forums however am unsure if it works on steam (I accsess civ 3 on the hard drive and not steam) but can't get the trainer to show up.

How do i make civ 3 trainer work with civ3 game itself?
