How Does Co Op Work?
I wanted to know if I could play Civ III with a friend cooperatively. Meaning, I want to know if we can play as the same civ, or do we both have to each pick a civ and just work together, or agree to work together?

Each player picks their own civ.

So is co op just like an agreement that 2 or more players have; to work together?.... I don't see an option to be on the same team as different civs.

Yes. And probably you will be at war with all the other civs.

So how do we win together then?

An ally victory, you mean? Mmmh. I don't think it is possible.
For example me and a friend of mine played a small map at monarch level. Soon it was a 2 vs 5 game.
I built up a strong economy, my friend focused on troops. So somehow we reached the 200th turn and we (I) won.

Ah, so the game hands out victory in each category?.... and you and your ally have to win in 2 different category?

The only way to do so that I see is to make a scenario with fixed Alliances (but keep map random). It's made through map editor tool. As far as I remember, there is evan "allied victory" option.

Is there a premade scenario like that?.... and if not, is it easy to set up in the map editor?

OK, more in-depth.
1) Launch the editor (for Vista and later - as Admin)
2) Go to Scenario->Scenario Properties menu
3) Open Locked Alliance tab
4) Fill Alliances you wish to create (up to 4 alliances). You can add countries only, so before creating those, you and your friend should pick civs. Add your civs to Alliance 1.
5) Alliance 2 to 4 should be filled with opposing civs OR left empty.
6) Pick Coalition Victory option to make victory for Alliance instead of single player
7) Go to Scenario Tab, name your scenario, fill in the description
8) Press OK
9) Save your map
10) Launch Civ III, create multiplayer game, pick the Scenario you created to play co-op, don't forget to set civilizations you picked before

Thanks again... The pic and the info you gave me helped me out big time. One follow up question. When I create my scenario, do I also have to create a whole map too? (I hope not) and if so, is there a way I can randomly generate a full working map; with in the map editor tool (meaning no mods or anything like that)
ZenMonkey Jul 16, 2014 @ 7:10pm
Cool... I just messed around with the map editor and I found the random map generator options. Co Op play time :)

Bit thanks to:Rastrelly, Hental san, El Pumpking for your help :)
