scenarios and mod packs from Civ 3 Fanatic page
anybody familiar with these?..if so, can they be downloaded to play on a steam version of Civ 3?

of course all mods can. The only thing you have to look for is if a mod has a custom labels.txt. If it was a mod made with the disc version (which almost all of them are), you have to add the line Unknown betwen PING and Host to allign the labels.txt for the steam version. This is because when Civ3 MP servers was migrated to Steam servers, they added an extra line in the labels.txt, which does not exist in the disc version labels.txt

A lot of the mods for Civ 3 require you to do a little work yourself. Some authors include sound files for units, but very rarely do they include instructions for putting the unit in the scenario.

But so long as you're willing to do some work, then yes, they will work on the Steam version.

Don't be afraid to ask on their forums for more help. The folks there are a pretty smart group, outside of the OT area.
