It wasnt made for Linux, and only the vanilla game (not this version) was ever made for Mac. However, some have had success with Steam Play: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3910/discussions/0/1736588252392408805/. But it would actually work better on Windows 10. Usually running it in compatibility mode for XP or older and it works.

It would work on Win10. With Linux, you could try some emulator or try Steam Play.

I doubt you can get Civ3 working on Linux easily. It's pretty old. You might have better luck with Civ5 or later.

Steam Play, which is for Linux, has had success with civ3 for some players.

do you know how to get it work on windows 10, ive tried everything in these forums and nothing works. ive edited the ini file, ive set resolution, ive tried all the compatibility modes , i skipped the intro, im just lost.... it used to work on this computer until i had to do a restore on it so i dont know why it doesnt work anymore. when i reinstalled steam and all my games and did all the stuff it says should work it just doesnt.

I dont know. I came here looking for that. I mean i could do it with out steam, just use wine. But i cant even get my wine to load steam...which is the one thing it hasnt worked with.

Steam has a linux system in place to play Windows games. You should be able to use that. But Civ3 does work fine on Windows 10 after some edits, though it varies from computer to computer.
