I'm sorry but the only answer to the statement like this is: get good. You want to see the point of playing submarine? Go and check the stats of exclusive submarine players like Red October or me.
Only best BB players can constantly dodge sub torpedoes but even they can be chased to the corner of the map and then killed.
I agree with you that subs could be buffed but even without any changes, this class is totally worth of playing.
But they wouldn't need to because a DD can get there in that time and wreck ♥♥♥♥. This is a consistent problem and even far away they can close the distance in no time at all when desperatly trying to pin your target. They always notice and intercept regardless of the route I pick to try and sneak up on their Battleships. It not like I can deep dive the huge expanses of ocean required for both evading the Cruisers and Destroyers AND reaching the Battleship before I drown.
First off; welcome to Steel Ocean.
I see you have played just 56 hrs so far which is great but is very few to have started to master the game, ship class and commanders.
Subs can be and are very effective but like wise can be and are frustrating to master.
I suggest you review the pinned post " New Captains Start Here ":

But the learning curve for subs is really harsh. probably the most difficult ship to master. I have been crushed and destroyed by former DJ players constantly at the end of 2015. But I have learned a lot.
I would be thrilled if our disguise factor was buffed a little bit so we could sneak on BBs a little bit closer. Anyway DDs will always be able to see us for miles away and they still can dodge a torp even at 500m. So it would not be a biggy for them.
The other thing I would like to see change is the way torp bombers are indicated on the HUD of the sub. It is too easy for a good CV player to kill a sub at the moment.
Anyway, all I can tell you, Berz, is that subs are dfficult to play, lots of trick to learn (I m still learning new things every day) so dont give up too easily :o)
Ok, i will at least do that.
Colour me surprised by that revelation.
The fastest submarine in the world LOL
It wouldnt be so bad, if only you could get your team to do the same, but alas, that DD will fish you out and you wont be getting any support yourself.
After looking at OP's complaint I am pretty sure he does not have such a group. In the end of the day, its always you alone vs a whole team, because of the meta. But this is one cancer that is present in every game today. No avoiding it. You either live with it or become one of them.
This game even supports built-in VOIP, but it's never worked as far as I know. People just use Teamspeak as a workaround. Maybe one day the dev will actually care and fix it, that way easy VOIP comms are available to everyone, including normal matches.
And I'll say this: you can stay give enemy locations away to people that aren't in radio range. It's easy, you type it in the chat and ping the map. VOIP just makes typing unnecessary.
It's gaining the ability to manage the first to avoid the second that is the trick and with a little time, effort and teamwork that can be managed and which can clearly be seen in the higher tier fleet battles where it becomes very evident quickly unless you can deal with enemy subs quickly then your team is in for a quite nasty roll into the wall and a loss is unavoidable.
So stay strong and try to plan ahead and with some guesswork and some more experience on the maps as well to get to know where ships tend to drift and congregate is going to be a help to that path.
They are by far the most vulnerable but at the same time among the strongest ships in the right place.
Getting used to the detection system will also help you a lot on the way.
Peace V
