- Most players prefer it, I think. In my personal case it is because even I like Jaina the most, I love to have diversity in my matches.
- Most match ups are quite fair, but there are still a few ones with 7v3 advantage, so 3v3 reduces this problem a lot.
- Some characters would be impopular because match ups. With 3v3 you can use any character you like, if he loses a match he will still have 2 more chances. :)
P.D: If you need any help to learn your 2 extra characters, you can ask for help here, or even in the Discord (where you will find top players available to help).
P.P.D: Just for curiosity, most tournaments are 1v1, although AFAIK you will find only top players in them.
- If you look for Casual Match, you'll always find it. Depending of the day and time, maybe you'll find similar players to you, or rivals much better/worse.
- If you look for Ranked, there are times and days when you will find it, others than not.
But even in the glory days, there were always enough players to find similar rivals in any mode, but not so many to be practical to divide the game in more modes. So the solution was to prepare rankeds only for 1v1 or only for 3v3. Some players prefer one option, some the other. Would have the game more or less popular with 1v1? Who knows.
'It's a hardcore game because of 3v3.'
I strongly disagree here. I sometimes play GG Strive, considered an accessible fighting game. I find easier to learn 3 Fantasy Strike characters, than main Ky Kiske despite being the easiest Strive character. Very few fighting games, even 1v1 ones, can compete with Fantasy Strike in this aspect.
What is true, if you actually play a game alot and love it, and passionate about it, then you know the truth of what's needed. So what's your suggestion to the dev if they could change 1 thing? My post comes from good intentions.
I just feel quickplay was very fun itself. Just fight an equal level / experience character level (similar matchup knowledge), may the best player win based on the matchup and quick wits.
For example, I needed 2-3 months visiting the shop every day to buy Jaina's intro where she kicks a beer barrel. Ok, this system forced me to visit the shop to see their products. Products that I was not interested in, products that I would have been able to buy at any time with a typical shop. I don't care any more because I have this Jaina's intro, but I understand that nobody likes it.
The other thing that I would like is the rest of Yomi characters added, but I am aware Sirlin Games would lose money with it, so here I understand.
Changing topic. More people plays only QM and of course it is completely fine, play what you enjoy the most. :) This reminds me Meopala, the best Graves player in the world. A few years ago he played only QM, and it was weird for everybody to see a Bronze 5 being so super good, and a good rival for the top world players. Now he also plays Ranked, and ofc is in Master division, but there are some very strong players who still only play QM, or 1v1 tournaments.
P.D: If you want to add me, I'd be glad to play with you. We also could comment the game in Discord chat. My nick game is 'Tserleg', without the number. :)
I just dont want to play with characters i dont like,if they allowed me to pick the same character 3 times i wouldnt mind.
If other games have easy input and an existing playerbase, and all the money behind them then it's win win for the user. People can pick it up, set it to easy and smash their friends to their hearts content. And if they ever have a desire to develop from there, the option is already open in the same product.
You have good points. When FS appeared the only 'easy inputs' fighting games available were Discord games, or even completely dead games, only worthy if you wanted them for online (and maybe previous to FS was only Divekick). Later appeared a few ones who were able to be succesful for a few months (Granblue, Power Rangers) I didn't like them. Ok, DBFZ is still succesful, but although I like it in most aspects, its lack of neutral doesn't suit me.
Fortunately SF6 is coming, and I've enjoyed the Demo and the last open betha. So probably it will be my next main game.
Anyway, in my personal case I'll still play FS here and there because:
- It has been the game where I got the fundamentals of fighting games. In Strive I've only reached 8th floor, but sure that without my FS experience my results would have been much worse. So I feel attached.
- The Discord community is very welcoming.
- Jaina Barrel Kicker. XD
I recognize that if I hadn't played FS yet, for me the only reasons to consider it would have been:
- It's free to test, and I like to explore things.
- Very cheap, at least on sales, so no bad for a secondary fighting game.
- Jaina. :)
Anyway, I think I would have added. Rising Thunder and Granblue have it, and IMHO it is a good addition to their gameplay, although I recognize that I haven't played them enough to compare, and maybe in such case I would have prefered Fantasy Strike aproach. Well, once Project L is launched I'll know it. ;)
Future roster. They won't be added because this game has not been succesful, but otherwise the next characters are known: all Fantasy Strike characters come from Yomi, the card fighting game from Sirlin company, so next ones would be the remain characters like Persephone (the gal who 'helped' De Grey), Zane (the fire worker who appears in Jaina's ending), Menelker (Midori's brother, who asked him to teach his disciples dirty techniques), Gloria the healer, etc.
The thing is that there is people in Fantasy Strike who 'learn' 3 their 3 characters and are in bronze-silver, and are destroyed by gold-diamond guys, who are destroyed by master players. The proof that when you have been destroyed in the game by a random guy was not a fluke, it was that he had played and improved while you quited before to really learn.
