- Tough Love Arena. Completely free. Try it, I don't know if you will like it (I prefer FS), but it could be.
- Street Fighter 6. It has Modern and Classic inputs. With Modern, you lose 20% damage with special moves and combos (although you can avoid it by introducing 'classic' inputs as I sometimes do) but it's often compensated by not losing time introducing those Z inputs (like in some anti airs).
- Dike Kick. Even easier than Fantasy Strike. It has just two buttons: jump and kick. No need to more controls even to move. The feeling is very different to a typical fighting game, but there are people who like it.
- Power Rangers Battle for the Grid.
- 2XKO (aka Project L). It will appear in a couple of years. It's based in Rising Thunder, and great game but whose only offline content is the Training Mode, and to play you will have to enter in a Discord where only occasionally will find an opponent (a few hardcore players who will utterly destroy you). Anyway, try 2XKO when it appears, it will be free AND will probably have a bigger playerbase with opponents with any skill level.
**Next are anime fighters.
c) Gran Blue vs. It's Rising version was launched recently, maybe it has players to fight against.
d) Blaz Blue Cross Tag. No idea about its online.
e) Dungeon Fighter Duel. I find its gameplay a little weird with the long ranges of the weapons, and character stories completely empty, but it's a fun game with cool characters. Dead online.
**Fighting games with quarter circles:
- Dragon Ball Fighterz. No Z inputs, just quarters, and with autocombos (there are manual hard combos, but only needed for super high leagues).
- Mortal Kombat 1 and Injustice 2. I think that they don't have Z inputs, but I could be wrong, so get info first.
If you want to know 3D and platform games say it.
I recommend Death or Alive 5, it has a free version with only 4 characters (the 4 that I would find more interesting even if I bought the full game). I dunno if DoA6 has a free version, but you can look for it.
Another option are arena fighters, which are the 3D equivalent of 2D platform fighters. I am aware that not exactly the same genre.
Yeah. Not a great offer, but 3D makes games harder to implement, which is not a problem for big companies, but for small ones...
Funny, I've actually played that one before, recognized the art style right away!
If you have any recommendations for interesting arena fighters, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll continue to sit around and wait for Hellish Quart to leave early access...
- All the cats in tales, like Alice in Wonderland or Cat with Boots, are the same cat (a fencing master).
- All the wolves and the werewolf are the same wolf.
- Whitesnow is a guy, and he is the charming prince from the same tale.
- Hook is a hot woman 50 years old.
- etc
Some anime series like Naruto, Demon Slayers, One Punch Man, and many others have their own arena fighting game.
If you use Google you'll find more by sure.
