Fantasy Strike Server Issues and Nintendo Switch Crashes
Hello everyone, Leontes here, Marketing Director and Community Manager for Sirlin Games. I want to talk to you about the technical problems our servers are having at the moment.

For some context, Fantasy Strike became free-to-play on July 21st, and we've had a massive amount of interest from all sides. We've had tens of thousands of new online players every day since launch. There have been events, tournaments, and streams running nearly every single day. We're "blowing up" thanks to all of you.

However, there have been a few issues since launch that we want to address.

UPDATE: Our servers have had a lot of trouble keeping up with the explosion of free-to-play players, and we’ve been working for days on upgrades and optimizations. We have now fixed the vast majority of problems with the servers. The main remaining problem is occasional disconnects after a ranked match. We’re aware of that, and the fix to that will likely take a few weeks. On the bright side, ranked matches work most of the time, and this issue doesn’t affect casual online matches. We’ll iron out that kink as soon as we can.

Second, we’re aware of an issue regarding the Nintendo Switch version of the game where players are reporting frequent crashes after they complete a match. We’ve already submitted a real fix for that crash and are waiting for Nintendo to approve that patch before we can roll it out to the players (often takes around 2 weeks).

In the meantime, one workaround we’ve discovered is that you can periodically delete your local save data for Fantasy Strike (once every few hours of gameplay should be fine). For details on how to do this, head to this link, here.[en-americas-support.nintendo.com]

You won’t lose any progress, unlocks or purchases (since that’s all tied to your FantasyTag). We know that’s inconvenient to constantly do, and we hope we can get that patch out the door soon.

It's been a roller coaster ride all week for us at Sirlin Games. We hope you bear with us while we work through these issues.

Please follow us on Twitter and join our Discord chat so we can update you on our progress fixing these things.

Thanks for the info. My game was crashing so it's nice to know that it isn't just me, some other games I wanted to play do that on my PC. If it helps to know my entire PC resets, and I think it's from adjusting my laptop volume and from mouse clicks? My arcade stick and the game itself seems fine. Anyway, good luck working on the game, congrats on the new playerbase.

The above post mentions a crash that only happens on Nintendo Switch at the end of games. (Patch with the fix is being reviewed by Nintendo now, and in the meantime you can delete your saved data, not the game itself, to protect yourself from the crash.)

The only other crash we're aware of, but haven't actually pinned down the exact cause yet, happens on PS4 and only at the end of individual games during a ranked set.

We are not aware of any other types of crashes, or any crashes on PC. If you have them, try to submit a detailed bug report of what happened, as well as the game log if possible, which you can find here on windows:

Someone already gave you the answer. The free version gives you access to Training and Online modes. You need to pay money to have access to the local offline versus mode and the single-player modes (yes, they can be played offline).

I wouldn't bother. Playing single-player against the AI in fighting games is lame, unsatisfying, and a pitiful shadow of the true fighting game experience. And the online population for this game is dead or dying.
