Black Screen After Pressing any Button to Play

After I press a button at the main Umbrella Corps screen, where it asks you to press any button, the game just gives me a black screen that I can't progress past. There's a little flashing cross on the bottom right, but nothing happens.

I tried this game out on my friend's PC a few hours ago, and it works perfectly fine. Loads up after the same screen and everything. I don't have any antivirus, disabled my firewall, restarted Steam, restarted my computer, verified files and everything. Tried running the game as administrator and in compatability mode, but nothing seems to work. I even re-installed the game to a different drive.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re-installed yet again and it's still giving me the same issue. I have no idea what the problem could be.

My system is:
GPU: ASUS Strix Geforce GTX 970 4GB
CPU: AMD FX-9590
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
RAM: 16GB of some Corsair RAM, I don't remember the speeds for it off the top of my head.

Again, no antivirus, disabled firewall, etc. etc. The game isn't crashing or keeping me from starting it up or anything, it just has some sort of infinite loading screen after you hit any button to play. I've tried installing it on my C: drive, which is an SSD, another SSD, and a HDD, and they all have the same problem. I've closed out as many background programs that I could think that might be interfering with the game for some reason, but I think my issue is just that the game is being a piece of ♥♥♥♥.

New update did nothing for me. Still having the same issue. Re-installed to yet another drive. Left the game running for about 15 minutes, came back, and it was still "loading."

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I can't ask for an easy launch on any new game, can I?

I'm having the same problem too. Didn't have this problem when I got the game last year, it only started happening some months later.

I let the game rot in my library for about a year. I reinstalled it and the game works fine, but no one plays it, so now it doesn't matter. Hope you get it fixed man.

I don't know if this is a bug with unity engine and my gpu but the same thing happens in UMBRELLA CORPS, Moto Racer 4 and Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide.
