New WINE fix: fails to start (XML load Error)

I just saw an update pushed: wine-staging 10.0-rc5

... among the fixes is an infamous XML-error which prevented CIV IV to load on some Linux/Proton PCs.

Should work now, out of the gate for those affected. If you uninstalled CIV IV, you might give it another try, when using wine-staging. Will probably get pushed to regular wine soon and also be implemented in Proton Experiemental(?).

If you are having troubles on Win10/11, you can always download a Linux distribution ISO on a USB thumbdrive and run Linux as a 'Live' Distro Operating System = it does not touch your Windows OS. You boot from the USB-Stick (you can run it purely in RAM) and you can test and try the game with Steam for LinuxProton/WINE that way, without any commitment.
