System requirements?

Had this game YEARS ago. Loved it.

Now see that it's available for a bargain price. Want to buy it for my laptop, yet concerned whether it will run or not.

I'm on Windows 10, with the bare components (NOT a gaming laptop). CanIRunIt says that my graphics card is too weak (Intel R UHD 620), however, this game is so old, I wonder if it's more the games age, not my laptop.

Long story short: Can I play this on a new, non-gaming laptop?

hey u.in 2006 i run this game on a 128 mb ati graficcard. ur grafic component is ok. i have the same and can play civ 4 without issues. it uses around 150 megabyte ram and not much cpu. i play with intel uhd 620 even civ 5 and civ 6 without issues. u are fine my friend.

earlier on civ 4 was in the app store and easy to install. that changed, my buddy says. in system requirements for civ 4 os is listed: Betriebssystem: Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher. so u eather get the steam version or u try the software crossover to run the game

The issue isn't the minimum requirements, the issue is whether your required to have a pre-Windows 10 OS. I had this game for years and it stopped working on my previous laptop the day I upgraded to Windows 10, and it never worked on my current laptop that came with this OS. I don’t want to buy it only to find out that the software hasn’t been updated to work on the latest OSs like they used to do with the old Command & Conquer series. I’m fairly new here to Steam, so I don’t know how to contact someone employed by this site who can give me the official answer that I can take to the bank.

I actually did wind up purchasing the game (my laptop is basic, purchased about 10 months ago). game works just fine!

Yeah with a game this old, pretty much any hardware made in the last several years even if it is BASIC stuff and an onboard chipset should be able to run something this old easily. I am pretty sure most crappy phones these days should be able to damn near max games this old.
