Report a translation problem
I don't know if this was the case in the base game, or if it was changed subsequently (I remember it used to happen a lot), but I rarely see it in any significant amount in updated Beyond the Sword.
If you still find it intolerable just say, it doesn't take a lot of effort to mod out of existence.

I like the game to feature global warming - and we can prevent it with the UN (ban nukes, make environmentalism a global civic), and by doing actions to build non-polluting buildings (e.g. hydro plants instead of coal plants) and control plenty of land, such that our rivals can build less polluting buildings.
