Sid Meier's Civilization IV

Sid Meier's Civilization IV

Global Warming still a huge issue in the game?
I played Civ IV years ago when it first came out. I played on the diety level as I have played and managed to win on with all the Civs. However, my late game and my score was half destroyed by global warming. I reached a point where 20 tiles a turn would turn to desert. It was absurd. Since I hate Civ VI and think it is the worst in the series, I am thinking of returning to playing the good ole Civ IV, which despite the half game destroying global warming, was an otherwise great game. Does anyone who has played recently know if the latest patch has reduced how absurdly out of control global warming was? Or is it still insane? If it is still insane, does anyone know where to get a mod that can fix global warming? Cheers.

I don't know how the mechanics work exactly, but the worst I've ever seen in many games is one case every few turns. But I also only play at Noble and below.

Its mostly driven by nukes now.

I don't know if this was the case in the base game, or if it was changed subsequently (I remember it used to happen a lot), but I rarely see it in any significant amount in updated Beyond the Sword.

If you still find it intolerable just say, it doesn't take a lot of effort to mod out of existence.

Well, that global warming feature sounds quite realistic.

I like the game to feature global warming - and we can prevent it with the UN (ban nukes, make environmentalism a global civic), and by doing actions to build non-polluting buildings (e.g. hydro plants instead of coal plants) and control plenty of land, such that our rivals can build less polluting buildings.
