Let's Talk: Asuka the cheapest char?

TMM started to play Asuka. He said she is a garbage char and so cheap he is ashame of winning.

Every time i fight asuka i think of those typical shonen protagonist who have main character immunity and always find a way to escape the most inescapable situations.

I only have about 100 hours in tekken 7, which is basically nothing, i picked her my first main at the beginning, and i've always thought that her b+3, most of her lows including d+1+2, and other "cheap stuff" are predictable af and even if they work 1 or 2 times, they will be consistently punished later during the match, especially since most of this moves are huge - on block (for example, b+3 is literally -19 on block and can be punished even by pure close-range chars), so i've been trying to mix most of her moveset... But why 21:24 was possible? He spams 2 attack, and king player simply ignores that fact, he just continues attacking instead of trying to do something less idiotic. Is that those legendary "play fundamental" that was destroyed by 2+3, 2, 4 spam and inability to to remember what happened, like, a second ago?
And also what's with 0:53? This could be done by literally any character in the game, including kazuya

well yeah,asuka is very capable of effortlessly carrying with her bunga but those are ruler ranks none of that would work vs better players.
still,asuka has alot of bunga potential so smart players cover the bad habits she gives by playing other characters or by changing up the way they play and the moves they rely on.i still wouldnt say she is the cheapest in the game,she is just gimmicky

I like how u put it. Maybe Asuka should have her own series in Tekken. Lol

Honestly, her panic moves are the one that makes her escape the inescapable situation and potential comeback.

I dont get what happened in 0:53. Are u referring to her scrub move b4,2,3? Yes i used that in green to yellow and it worked. It stopped at orange tho.

Her white heron combo is one of her cheap moves that can carry anyone to purple or maybe even higher. I got to purple in season 3 by spamming that strings. Not that Im proud tho, but definitely usable. Majority of players are not aware that they can duck jab the 2nd hit to avoid the mix up. But on counterhit they are guaranteed to eat d4 ender if u go for it and do a big combo. Nevertheless on paper it should stopped at yellow rank like her b4,2,3. One thing i wanna know is if the d4 end mix up is reactable or not, coz players struggle to guess.

Sadly he only fought two opponents so it's hard to conclude how he will do next, but yeah that King player is definitely having a match up problem same as that Lee player.

You cant underestimate her b3. Most players who dont stop pressing can eat the low mix up after it. Thats the reason players are hesitating to punish b3. However at higher level even the follow up wont work coz it is reactable anyway.

I hate the fact that Asuka earned a reputation of being an unga bunga char where in fact she should be played defensively, that is, she is waiting for her opponent to whiff and punish it, and parry if necessary. Her panic moves are meant to be used for defensive purpose as well but players abuse it by spamming it and win by knowledge check.

thats exactly what it is,bunga is rewarded with asuka so she got that reputation alongside other characters,still its all about matchup knowledge like you said.
bunga and knowledge checks can only carry you so far

Asuka like so many other characters has a sharp drop in effectiveness at some point in the ranks.
She certainly carries you far, but not all the way.
I think blue ranks is the limit for no brain unga asuka, most even can't get past purple.
Eventually you will have to learn the game, even with asuka.
There's characters like xiaoyu that do not ever need to learn the game.

So no, I don't think Asuka is anywhere near the cheapest or most carried character.

You are right. I couldn't get past purple by using unga last year. I was already struggling at that point, while TMM just spam her 1+4 mix ups ez pz wins.
