Anti-Consumer practices. Can't even BUY the game! Is this a JOKE?

People who already have existing Tekken 7 CANNOT upgrade to current "definitive" edition. Back in the day, my game was called Ultimate Edition which now, of course, got removed

The sales for definitive edition now reach 85%, which can possibly be 90% down the line

I am missing Season Pass 3 and 4, both of which only get 50% off

But do you know that buying the ENTIRE game as Definitive edition is actually cheaper than buying Season Pass 3+4 in whatever currency? It's actually absurd

I looked it up, and apparently the only real solution is to completely REMOVE the game from your library to only re-buy it again as Definitive Edition, rather than overpaying for Season Pass 3 and 4


This means I have to LOSE all my rankings, all my custom made skins for characters only to save some money

Is this an actual joke or what? Who is even responsible for this BS? Steam or Namco? Whoever is guilty, this system is absolute dog. I know for a fact other games allow you to upgrade to all DLCs without telling you that "you already own this product" because that's the message that I get when trying to buy definitive edition. I can only buy it as a gift for my secondary account

Just wow, actual consumers getting screwed over by this BS

p.s. the price of the full game for me right now is 449 rub for each of the 2 season passes (898). Definitive edition costs 690 rub. This translates to Season Passes costing me 30% more

I already paid 1449 rub for this thing way back in the day but the greedy mechanics now will also charge me extra 30% for getting all season passes

I mean, I should be somewhat glad. Now I know for a fact that I won't be getting Tekken 8. I'm pretty sure Tekken 7 is still gonna retain some community even when 8 comes out but with this horrible trend of screwing actual paying customers, I don't even want to know what 8 will have down the line if I already feel miserable right now with 7


The game is good, though, dont get me wrong. The recent network major update they did is actually good

It's really hard for me to feel sry for anyone that is RU using RUB. If the war embargo worked like it should in the gaming sector you shouldn't be able to even buy games. But it doesn't so maybe just be thankful for being able to buy them at all.

You don't lose anything. Your save file will transfer, but just in case you can copy it to your desktop to make sure it doesn't get deleted.
But yeah you have to delete tekken from your account in order to buy it again since the definitive edition is the same sku with bonuses applied.

You dont lose your rankings and custom cosmetic stuff. The only thing you lose is sanity through time and money. So I recommend the mathbox dlc since you love numbers so much.

Does this necessarily apply to modern era of FGCs though? I only ever play Tekken, not other fighters, not sure what's going on over there, but this BS with season passes and all these weird edition iterations they keep changing every year only hurt the paying customers. I mean, you could make an argument that back in the day it was much worse when you had to pay another 60$ for T5DR or T6BR to get "fixed" updated game but nowadays if you dont buy it at a discount you have to pay over 100$ with all the DLCs attached. Pure robbery.

I remember when you were actually AWARDED content for playing the game, like it was in Tekken 3 where you would unlock game modes and characters for playing the arcade. Now you get grey pictures and 6$ base price tag on characters that don't even belong to the game roflmao

Those days of unlocking content are gone. The content is locked behind a day one paywall, dlc, and the inevitable goty. It is because I have been a sucker that this is still going on. There will be a day where the game devs will kiss our ass for money because we know we pay them to keep their lights on along with farm to table, table to plate, plate to fork, fork to mouth type meals. This whole community you see here are examples that companies like Bandai Namco were put on the map on the first place. I hope they ll figure that out sooner or later.

Yeah not sure when that will ever happen tbh. Namco knows they are gonna sell millions of Tekken 8s, just like any other previous Tekken, especially now that it's on PC and they are gonna be sucking us all with all the DLCs and stuff. Also, the longevity of a single game is much bigger nowadays, T7 was released in 2017 on consoles, but existed for about 2 years on arcades. In mid 2023, we still dont have release date for T8. Back in the day you would get a new Tekken game like every 2-3 years, right? I guess now we all have to be suckers for the fact the game gets "fixed" (cough* 7 leroys in Top 8 EVO japan cough*) through updates and patches and I guess that's just enough. On the bright side that means we don't have to pay 100$+ for the game with all the DLCs every couple of years now?

p.s. I did nothing with my title, no puns intended, not sure what puns there are to begin with. Just expressed the way I feel by devs making me remove the game from the library only to get it cheaper cuz I can't upgrade to X edition for whatever weird reason although it should definitely be allowed

I dont see namco putting a cold barrel of a glock on the back of our head making the ultimate choice whether to buy tekken 8 or not. Its through our own decision we do that. Out of all the trailers I saw for tekken 8, name me one character who is a new face and not from the old roster within the previous tekken games. I m not gonna be surprised if the new set of characters are dlc with Heihachi as a Bonus-Kun. Like resident evil 6 and SF6, fighting games like tekken are gunning to be handicap accessible towards the people who play cod, csgo, apex legends, minecrack, and forknight. Not knowing full well that people find ways to get even easier wins through 3rd party software, mods, and peripherals. Consoles are not safe from this either.

Its a skinners box effect which is what dlc characters are. Vanilla Leroys are a great example that they start out strong then they get nerfed with Mayor Mikes nerf pipu later down the line. So that its a surefire way that the next season of characters to repeat the Vanilla Leroy history all over again. Whats todays hot topic nowadays Kunimitsu, Lidia, and Lei for good measure? It makes companies with a P2W model like Nexon and NCSoft blush.

I know how to buy vijeogames in 2023 and by just trying getting them from steam you end up loosing money. I bought the ultimate edition last year from gamivo plus season pack 3&4 to go with it just 3000 RUB. I really don't see the issue you are trying to raise. All I see is a consumer who doesn't know how the free market works and chooses to pay more. You being RU and me stating that I don't feel sry for RU people is just a cherry on top of all this cake, makes it more ironic that you can't understand "freedom".

for just 3000 rub? Next time you try to actually prove a point, try to use actual accurate conversion rates, because if you did buy it for "3000 rub" then you got robbed. Have fun being overcharged

Well this is not true at all. At the time there wasn't a sale going on and it was either full release price or shop around. I shopped around. My initial point also stands, you as a RU should be thankful to be able to buy anything from the free world at all. Have fun being RU.

yeah, same thing for my country, they could at least give more discount on the season passes... if it was the same to get the passes and the definitive edition I'd have gotten them already... since I think it's a hassle to delete a game from my library and rebuy it I'm just waiting to see if the passes will get cheaper later on...
the best practice is to make a "complete your collection" deal, but most FGs don't do that...

better buy all that stuff now since Tekken 8 is right around the corner, it's a good time to be playing the game right now before the community switches to T8 and T7 is gonna become eventually void of online players

But yeah, I'm really pissed off at how I, a customer who already paid so much for my game back in the day basically am forced to remove the game completely so I can get it cheaper with all DLCs. It's downright BS, there should have been a system in place that would allow upgrade, that would also come at a 85% discount just like all these editions are getting

Basically, I should be paying even less than what the "definitive edition" costs.

Why is it so hard to make a system that actually works?
