Finally found a video discussing this overlay. Since it says clearly on the handle they are using it. I wouldn't call it cheating because cheating is hidden. I think it would be a very helpful tool, two friends could use it and teach each other how to break throws for example since it doesn't do it for you right? it just shows the correct button to press

I would classify it as different from outright cheating

In my 500 hours on playing tekken I've seen maybe 2 people using overlay in ranked

It gives you enormous advantage and is cheating buuuut from all the cheats this one actually allows you to learn

While playing vs real people, it's cheating. This tool is meant to be used for analyzing and training mode. Not for use in real matches. And that's why the devs mark users with the [overlay] tag to expose them.
I like this tool alot but don't ever use it in online matches, not even unranked.
Cheating is cheating.
But I know there's a few apologists for it on here as well.

I'm reading there is a moral compass from cheating at which you can say " enormous cheating " vs " a little cheating " so it's a personal choice at the end which I find very interesting

In context of dating, is it better if your partner does " a little cheating " vs " enormous cheating " I guess the emotional damage blow would be bigger if your partners was secretly as escort for years and you were married to them without knowing and the kids aren't actually yours would be " enormous cheating " vs garden variety cheating

How much are we comfortably with is good to question to ask yourselves

That logic is trash tho, show me any "little" cheat and I can make it into a bigger problem myself.

Comparing to dating is taking the piss tho and you know it.

gotta maintain frame advantage in Tekken, and relationships

Julia is plus after block on her running 1, her f,f,4, she's neutral frame after ws 2,1 and if it connects i get a guaranteed* f,f,2,, her safe pressure includes 1,1, and df,3

being able to block low, then high and punishing bow and arrow is very key in this match up

In a real match = cheating
Private matches/ Lab purposes/ solo training = not cheating

I personally use tekken overlay and the amount of things you can use it for solo training is exactly what I want. My only regret is buying the frame data dlc.

As a matter of fact I met one guy using it but back then had no idea this app really exists and forces you to suffix "overlay" to your name. And really I didn't bother any further back then when I met the guy because nothing looked like cheating to me at all and the match resulted in a win for me too.

If you have frame advantage on screen prompts while people play its cheating
if you lag the game using turbo and macro its cheating
You run A web browser and 200 tabs of netflix hulu and spotify its cheating
you use WIFI and the connection bounces around from 1 2 3 bars over and over its cheating
You use visual obstacles and bright bloom when you punch its cheating

If It wasn't in the base game or base router / internet its modifying the outcome.
If the game is being run with less than 59-60 fps its cheating


Sry but that's reality if some one runs a 3rd party overlay screen and it causes issues with the delay or creates advantage or inconsistency its cheating.

And that's namcos job to add H L M SL beside each command on the moves list.
SCVI did it better with listing that information and it made things easier to lab and take in.

i hope tekken 8 will add some effect to indicate move's property

i saw Jin's punch has some kind of "line" effect on his left hand when he did a punch that track left, it eould be nice if it was the effect to tell you the move's tracking side
