As a Tekken 3 fanboy, I have been enthusiastic about Tekken again with Tekken 7, but frustration takes over recently.

Characters are too different from each other. Depth or "uniqueness" is only good to a certain extent. A game must have a core mechanic that every char follows more or less. But everything got too complex or complicated.

Make the franchise a game again, and not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PHD degree or second reality. I dont live for Tekken, just wanna have some fun, and punch some polygons. BS movement is the negative cherry on top.

If the game only wants to make pros/ streamers/ or hard-core-gamers happy who only live for Tekken - ok. But then Bamco wont see any money from me ever again lol

If it were up to me, every char would be the same but with different appearances, different animations of moves, and with many moves, so that it doesnt get too boring. Inputs should be the same though. Or players should be able to define inputs for moves by themselves. I dont wanna practise hours to be able to execute simple kicks, punches or strings. Frame perfect execution is BS, given that I face laggy online games more often then I dont.

And Tekken should be b a d a s s again, and not forcefully trying to target or appeal to every minority imaginable/ potential customer group.

Im aware that Im a noob, but I have some points I guess lol

is punished easily after his attacks

Miguel likes lows and to pressure but after hes done he spaces the opponent just enough to get counter hit. His low kicks are fast but a hopkick will take care of that as will a practiced parry

Negan fake pressure use defense and hes good as dead

Alisa ss and just before you get pushed on the ground to evade her incoming low kick tap down while above ground just before mid to low height, then tap back as you land to evade early.

Kunimitsu
lots of highs to punish, telegraphs attacks, and low parry
Lidia
fake pressure due to push back usually after the second string

Fakuman
range bait lows keep safe distance

Leroy
lots of fake pressure grab him when he tries to parry

Paul
Lots of pushback slow and telegraphed

Marduk
stay at a safe range, bait his low charge hop over his frumpy head

I never complained about Yoshimitsu gameplay-wise, just about his appearance and customization options (his fighting design is one of the positive exceptions), and my main beside Lei. I get frustrated playing with Josie (Tifa mod^^).

Well, I never said that I am non-biased.

But yeah I prefer old school style Tekken (with improved graphics and game play) that doesnt include every "political correctness" but care about cool fighting chars.

I am sure a large portion of Tekken 7 sales numbers are old schoolers like me, who restarted Tekken, and just wanna a modern version of old school Tekken.

The issue with old tekken is it was facing the same issues like Mortal kombat with taking likenesses of 80s action stars and well..

Ran out of them or added new blood based around real people

tekken 2 was 1995
Tekken 3 was 1997

You may not understand this but Tekken is 28 years old

Even if you remove those characters, you would have to reintroduce the roster and redo characters like Bruce who is generic MMA kick boxer and not a traditional Muay Thai.

You would have to separate Rodger's style from Alex. you would have to create styles that fit these characters even if they all come back.

The days of More character clones is over.

That's all that is happening is inclusion to fit and fill the market and expand it while fighting games are far less profitable than selling out and collecting data and profits via phone games.

Jack was firing his Dalsim fists in 5 and Kaz was firing lazers in 2. Outside of jun having chainsaws and rocket propulsion Alisa is there for lore as well as service to those who like Scifi.
