Let's Talk: Rank Distribution & Character Popularity
So, few days ago, Tekken's best info gathered, Olba, dropped some new info, and let's look at some of it, and maybe talk it.

Most played characters (I'll put the pozition changes next to the character, if any, and I'll only post the top 10 most played here):

https://postlmg.cc/6TbTvY2q

1. Paul (0)
2. Kazuya (0)
3. Bryan (0)
4. Armor King (0)
5. Fahkumram (0)
6. Devil Jin (+1)
7. Dragunov (+1)
8. Feng (+11)
9. Jin (0)
10. Leroy (-4)

Top 5 most played characters at Revered Ruler and above:

https://i.postimg.cc/SxMhdzLv/most-played-top5.png

Revered Ruler: Paul, Kazuya, Armor King, Bryan, Dragunov

Divine Ruler: Paul, Kazuya, Bryan, Armor King, Devil Jin

Eternal Ruler: Paul, Bryan, Kazuya, Armor King, Fahkumram

Fujin: Paul, Armor King, Bryan, Kazuya, Fahkumram

Raijin: Paul, Kazuya, Bryan, Armor King, Dragunov

Yaksa: Paul, Bryan, Kazuya, Armor King, Feng

Tekken God Omega: Devil Jin, Feng, Bryan, Kazuya, Kunimitsu

Ok, that looks better than a wall of text.

And finally, rank distribution.

https://postimg.cc/rd3s1112

From my understanding, data for Teal ranks, and early Green ranks is hard to get, so these statistics are only from Fighter and above, meaning that a full rank distribution might be off by like 5-8%, give or take in ranks such as the Red ranks. While the screenshot can show the rank inflation quite well, I'll only post some numbers from the final column here.

Accordion to the graph, ~54% of players, give or take, are in Genbu or above, if we're to add all the ranks, it's pretty safe to say that around half the players are Genbu or above. Fujin and above have the top 19% of players, while Emperor+ has only 7% of the players. At the start of season 4, the numbers were (excluding Marauder and bellow) Genbu+: 43%, Fujin+: 12%, Emperor+: 4%.

Compared to start of season 3 numbers look like this (tho we do have the Teal ranks here, and I'll add the start of season 4 numbers next to the season 3)

https://imgur.com/a/SGkxCAH

Genbu+: 20% (43%)
Fujin+: 4% (12%)
Emperor+: 2% (4%)

Between the start of season 3 and start of season 4, the number of Genbu players more than doubled, while Fujin players increased threefold and Emperor doubled.

For end of season 3 and end of season 4, numbers look like this:

Gembu+: 32% (54%)
Fujin+: 9% (19%)
Emperor+: 4% (7%)

So...yea...them the numbers.

Surprised that King isn't in the top 10 tbh
He's only 14th and not a top 10 because he doesn't attract enough edgy teens.

Jokes aside, he's still very popular, just not popular enough across all ranks to be in the top 10, and honestly, that's because he's not really a grapler anymore. At low ranks where people can't break throws, you'll see people use them, at high ranks it's a novelty as people can break them, so he's trying to roleplay another boring character and just fish for b1 and other Ch launchers, but at that point, why not play Bryan? He already does that and is better than King.

the highranks you are talking about must be on another stratosphere. i watch brawlpro and majin DMs pretty regularly and i see alot of grabs.

the list shows how i feel playing ranked....another kazuya (bryan, jin) huh?

I agree, high rank kings still use throws. Maybe he is meaning that they don't use them 24/7 like in lower ranks.

Just because one or two players do it doesn't suddenly make it the norm.

All King's I've faced that were 400k+ prowess weren't using throws except for Giant Swing or Shining Wizard, or an occasional grab to swap sides on break.

And honestly, who can blame them when he has so much ch that he's Steve with a mask?

I meant that they don't play King like a grapler, it's more like playing a ch type character with some more throws than usual.

He still is helluva grappler. He has true throw mixups.

Honestly, seeing more Armor Kings focusing on throws and chain throws than King. It's like their roles reversed.

I don't seem to understand that table. Lars is in number 16. Does this mean Lars is the 16th most played character in the game?
