By that standard you have to lock all chars because I've not seen a single Green player who had any clue how to play the game, yet most of them have ~2000+ wins, no movement at all, horrible defense...
Ling players will use too much gimmicks.
Kazuya people will just spam electrics and unseeable low launchers randomly.
King players will be jumping all day and trying low sweeps.
...
Whatever the char it won't be great tekken... it's actually the point of the rank.
Green level players lack everything, movement, knowledge and so on.
Two things. First off. Dave is last time I remember Byakko or Seiryu with Gigas.
Second. The point he's making isn't that he's salty about losing to Xiayou. Granted Dave gets salty all the time.
It's that Xiayou players, and everyone else who plays non-traditional characters that rely on something like gimmicks, setups, etc etc, purely. Makes you a player with extremely bad habits, that doesn't really make you improve, develop fundamentals, or knowledge of when to attack or defend.
It makes you good at mind games if you can keep it up until you hit a high rank, sure. You get good at mind games and knowing how the hitboxes of your gimmicks and cheese works, that's it. Wanna know where that gets you? Nowhere. Eventually you have to learn fundamentals. And for the people who's relied on cheese, trolling, and gimmicks for several thousand games, that's not something that's likely to happen, and even if. They'll just get frustrated and return to relying on gimmicks and cheese.
Trust me. I've seen it happen.
I'm saying this as someone who's won several locals in Tag2 in Denmark. And one pretty big local in Denmark in Tekken 7.
Currently I am Fujin with Law, who is not even my main.
I hope that gives me some credibility as to what I am talking about.
Granted I don't think any character should be blocked. Definitely not. I would say that it's unfortunate some characters make some people never develop into better Tekken players.
me myself a xiaoyu player since tekken3
and u know, i dont know sh#t about xiaoyu and i play xiaoyu and julia just because i like them
and then there's 3 people who actually add me and teach me well (when tekken7 was just in arcade and some prople add me in steam too), how to counter and how to use aop and other moves in right time..
u know.. some people play tekken just for fun and refreshing not for competitive play, so we can't say they're wrong... even i found a player still a beginner kazuya with win more than 1000 and they can only do the damn hellsweep and electric and nothing else.. and a alisa player in genbu if i remember with a damn f#cking 25000 wins.. with spamming d3 and the chainsaws.. XD
But of course Dave is being Dave.
Maybe they get more enjoyment out of playing the game the way they do over how you play it O_o
Ok Mr. Authoritarian.
